The InternetSearch Engine Optimization

VIC is the main way of SEO promotion

Qualitative analysis of the site - the first step on its way to its successful promotion. It is especially important to control SEO optimization, i.e. How the resource is seen by Google and Yandex search engines. It depends on it, how quickly it will be found and whether potential visitors will be found at all.

You can analyze the activity of the site with the help of special indicators. On the one hand, they show the programmer how successful his resource is, on the other hand, they determine for the same systems in which order the site is ranked and what its relevance is. In Google, the PageRank algorithm is responsible for this function, in Yandex, a weighted citation index (VIC) is a similar indicator.

Let's stop at the last one and try to understand what affects it and how to raise it in the top search queries using it.

A bit of history

VIC is a modern concept, which appeared relatively recently and is not used by all specialists. But in vain, after all, he was invented from an extreme necessity. Earlier, at the dawn of the appearance of such search engines as Yandex, and speech was not about the promotion of the site, because the search was simple, and among the small number of pages it was easy to find the necessary information for the keyword. The more extensive the web became, the harder it became to find the file, because some of the information was not verified, some did not correspond to the topic, and some were not authentic.

Therefore, there was a need for some filters, sorting out unauthorized pages and increasing the visibility of those that largely met the request. It's about ranking and such an important in the SEO promotion concept, as relevance.

Relevance of the site

This definition is responsible for the location of the site in the huge hierarchy of the World Wide Web. If your site has a semantic core, fullness of literate and unique texts, media files, even distribution of keywords throughout the structure, then the search engine will rank it in the first lines of search queries. How is this determined? Summarize (simplified) the main relevance indicators, and you will receive the VIC website:

  • Keyword density is less than 5% of the keys in the text - the system may not recognize the page, and much more than 5% - filter it as an artificially created one.
  • The location of the keys in the text - the greater the result is the key words located in the headlines and megatags, at the beginning of the article, but not in the first sentence.
  • Synonyms and word forms - the more textual material is adapted to the average user, the more likely the page will be in the top of the search query.
  • Popularity and authority of the resource - the more hosts refer to your site, the higher will be its weight and citation.

Influence of relevance on VIC

Of course, the VIC site is not so simple an indicator, and it is formed not only from the sum of the above factors. Not always a page that maximally reveals the subject of the request, has enough links from other resources and contains customized texts, gets into the top search queries of Yandex or Google. Everything depends also on the site that refers to you, is this resource authoritative enough? The VIC takes this into account and helps to create precisely the qualitative reference mass, and not just the quantitative one.

Thematic and weighted index

By the way about the quantity. There are two types of citation indicators. The index is the number of links or hosts that point to a resource. It determines the weight of the site. The thematic index is not affected by links from forums, blogs, free hosting and other resources, where anyone can post information about their site. By the way, if the link is placed on a donor site (that is, similar to the topic), it will bring you more than five links from resources of a different focus.

TIC in many respects determines the place of a specific site in the ranking, so specialists do not often use the VIC. This is a more complex qualitative index, taking into account not only the amount of reference mass, but also the weight, authority of citing sites. Moreover, VIC is a more thorough coefficient, since it takes into account the weight of the entire site, not just the TIC, but of each page separately.

VIC, whose definition is similar to the similar service of Google - PageRank, takes into account also the theme of all pages (the closer they are, the higher the indicator), the specific weight of each link, and much more.

How to identify and influence VIC

Unfortunately, due to the frequent artificial twisting of this indicator Yandex has closed it from the public access, and now you can see the weight of the site only in general, with the help of a thematic citation index on the webmasters' panel.

Despite this, VIC is a considered indicator when ranking pages, just now we do not see it.

Nevertheless, in order to raise its resource by rating and get to the top of search queries, it is necessary first of all to increase the quality reference mass on authoritative sites. And it can be done only with the right filling with unique, interesting, relevant and authentic content. Successful promotion to you!
