Shpunt it that? Areas of use

The construction work below ground level requires additional reinforcement to protect it from water or other mechanical interference. This is especially true for loose lands, which are unstable on their own.

Construction of the building begins with a pit. To prevent the destruction of the nearest buildings, the relief of the surface of the ground and the landscape, additional reinforcement of the excavation using Larsen's tongue is used.

Definition

Shpunt is a metal box-section design with linear locks at the edges. When immersed in the ground, the elements are fixed together by means of grooves on the structure. As a result, a continuous continuous web is formed.

Larsen's L5 pile is made of high-strength steel in order to easily transfer the dipping to hard ground. Depending on the load on the construction, piles of 15 to 23 mm thick are used. With the correct installation, the design restrains ground movement and groundwater, which gives an advantage in construction.

Dips from polymers

For the production of dowels, not only steel but also high-strength polymers such as polyvinylchloride and fiberglass are used. Despite the increased degree of brittleness in comparison with the classical tongue piles made of metal, polymeric ones have a more budgeted cost.

The advantage of polymers is resistance to corrosion. Due to this they are often used to strengthen terraces, shorelines, slopes. Used for the construction of small structures.

Application area

Shpunt is a design that has several varieties, of which metal and polymer are the most commonly used. Depending on the characteristics of the material and soil, such elements are used in such cases:

  • Strengthening the shoreline of reservoirs;
  • The construction of bridge supports and other hydraulic structures;
  • Strengthening foundation pits during the construction of large buildings;
  • Protection of the foundation from groundwater;
  • Fencing of a specific area of the soil from landslides.

The dowel creates a sealed space that holds back the natural movement of soil and groundwater. In the water zone, it is possible to create a ring from which water is completely pumped out for the construction work.

Installation technique

Shpunt is a kind of pile that is immersed in the ground with the help of special construction equipment. Clogging of such elements is carried out in the ground by mechanical action on the upper part of the structure.

Construction techniques create vibrations or jerks that softly pile up the pile in the soil. At the same time, for small designs, there are handholds for piercing dowels. The choice of the installation method is determined by the characteristics of the soil. So, in the soil, which contains a large number of stones or other hard inclusions, extremely strong metal structures are installed.

Since the tongue is a pile, the installation begins with the fixation of the element in an upright position. To facilitate the installation and movement of the pile in the soil, the grooves for the fasteners are treated with a thick layer of lubricant. When installing piles in places with a high level of groundwater, the seams between the elements of the structure are further sealed with silicone-based compounds. For polymer piles, additional lubrication is not required in most cases.

To limit the impact on surrounding buildings, the following measures are taken:

  • Reduction of hammer impact force;
  • Drilling a well for each individual element of the structure;
  • Reduction in the number of tongues slaughtered simultaneously;
  • Use of immersion lubricants.

This takes into account the condition of all buildings within a radius of 20 m from the construction site.
