Usinsk. Airport of a small town in the north of the country

The history of the Usinskiy district originates from the end of the 18th century, when the settlement of Ust-Usa arose in the valley of the Usa River, not far from its arrow with another large river Pechora . The richness of the region, the magnificent nature, the uncountable herds of deer and the abundance of fur-bearing animals attract the attention of the autocrats of Tsarist Russia and in the late 19th and early 20th centuries the active settlement of Prius began. Under Stalin, the district was part of the GULAG camp system. This sad historical fact confirms the location of the transshipment base here for the northern camps, all district special institutions, including the NKVD district department located in the center of the Usinsk settlement. The airport, specially built for the needs of the camp enterprise, was carried a few kilometers west of the city.

The village of the Severe North

July 20, 1984 in the life of the regional village of the Republic of Komi occurred a landmark event. The village of Usinsk (Ust-Usa) was given the status of a city. It is from this date that the official course of the history of not only the city, but of the entire district of the Republic, among other things, the youngest, is beginning. It is also worth noting that the city itself was built by the hands of the oil workers and the Komsomol members sent here along social networks, who built houses, hospitals, kindergartens and schools. Workers from Moscow, Ukhta, Sosnogorsk, Voyvozh and many other cities worked here. Among the social facilities were also built a cinema, a swimming pool, a palace of culture and a railway station. Partially modernized the airport of Usinsk. Residents of neighboring villages actively helped workers, supplying them with milk, potatoes and meat.

Nowadays

The modern building of the terminal has got to the airport since the times of the Soviet Union. Several times the restored, partially modernized building, about ten years ago, seriously homologated, overlooking the facade of the building with modern siding. The entrance of personal vehicles to the airport was revised to improve it, the routes for the movement of departing and arriving passengers inside the terminal were changed, and an international departures office with border control was added. The aerodrome is equipped with a tower of the KDP, its own emergency rescue team, medical staff with the possibility of exercising the veterinary control of arriving flights. The main contingent of employees and workers are residents of the city of Usinsk. The airport for them is a stable workplace with constantly indexed wages. Several people come from other cities, working on a rotational basis, for example, at the airport shuttle. For out-of-town employees, the company's own hostel is located on the outskirts of the town of Usinsk.

Development of aviation

The development of aviation in the northern region is mainly based on the delivery of shift workers to their place of work and back to their homeland. At least, this was the case with the Soviet Union in small, remote taiga towns from the rest of the world. Having your own airport in such a situation is an indisputable advantage. After the flight the shift workers were forced to shake for a few more hours along the broken roads of the region, at best at UAZ, and sometimes in the usual tent GAZ, at an ambient temperature of minus forty to minus fifty degrees. Therefore, the airport of Usinsk played an important role in those years in transporting labor to the places of oil and natural gas production. The closer the casting of foremost workers - the less time is needed for their transfer to the field - the more fossils will be extracted for the benefit of the people and Soviet power.

Work days

After the collapse of the USSR, the airport passes to the civil department and becomes regional. The terminal is undergoing major overhaul. Usinsk airport (photos of the times of the USSR and the modern image are very different) is completely transformed. Daily flights deliver passengers from Moscow, St. Petersburg and other large cities of our country. Someone does the transplant and goes even further: to Izhma, Ukhta, Vorkuta, Salekhard. After the millennium, the airport becomes the base for the airline "Komiaviatrans". The operator makes several departures every day from the city of Usinsk. The airport has signed cooperation agreements with several large companies. To date, this is Nordavia, Rusline, Center-South Yamal UTair, UTair-Express and S7.

International departures

The presence of flights outside the Republic of Komi automatically puts the airport in international status by Russian standards. However, it also meets the foreign requirements of this status. Charter flights send passengers to Turkey directly, without transfers, from Usinsk by the operator "Turkish Airlines".

Infrastructure

To get to the airport today is not difficult for residents of the city of Usinsk. The airport is located just seven kilometers from the modern city limits. Nearby there is a car parking. There is a bus service between the airport and the city. In the terminal, passengers can find a cozy cafe, retail and souvenir shops, payment terminals and ATMs. There is a separate storage room for luggage. In the departure hall there is a reference. Usinsk Airport offers its passengers to take advantage of temporary accommodation in one of the three hotels located in the immediate vicinity of the airport.

Possibilities of the aerodrome

The airport is operated by the Komi MTU of the Russian Federation. According to the international classification, he is assigned a class "B", which gives him the right to take medium-haul aircraft Boeing 737 and Airbus 319. The asphalt-concrete runway with a length of 2500 meters and a width of 42 meters allows to take any aircraft with a take-off weight of up to 210 tons, including Tu-154, IL-76 and Yak-42, as well as any lighter winged vehicles. The airport is equipped with a helicopter parking and is able to receive all types of helicopters. IATA code: USK, for ICAO: UUYS, internal: USN.
