Uli Henness: through thorns to the stars

Uli Henes is a functionary whose path in football as a player ended very early, and as a manager he started. Now he is a respectable German gentleman, who nevertheless still manages the huge Munich machine, quarrels with the authorities and is passionately ill for Bayern.

Uli Henness: biography and interesting facts from life

Ulrich Henness was born in the German city of Ulm in 1952. Since childhood, fond of football, so at 7 years old father gave it to a youth team with the same name "Ulm." Thanks to an outstanding game, Henness was quickly invited to the youth team of Germany, the colors of which he defended from 1968 to 1972.

Almost the entire professional career Uli Henness held as a player of the Munich "Bavaria", there he also received the post after the end of the speeches.

In 1982, Henness was the only survivor of an airplane crash of a light private jet that flew from Munich to Hannover. A well-known football functionary was found in the forest bloodied and in a memoryless state. Later, Henness himself repeatedly noted that fate gave him a second chance.

A stout striker finished his career as a footballer in a modest "Nuremberg". For the club, Henness managed to play 11 matches, but he was more remembered by residents of Nuremberg because he is a co-owner of a local meat processing plant, which still functions.

As a player

In 1970, the player of the Munich "Bavaria" became a little-known earlier eighteen-year-old football player Uli Henness. The photo of the player of those years, by the way, can still be seen in the club museum of 26-fold champions. He played at the position of an attacking midfielder or a drawn forward.

For nine years in the "Bavaria" Henness had more than three hundred matches, but was forced to end his career as a player at the age of 27 due to persistent pain in the knee.

Also for four years, the football player defended the colors of the German team, in which he managed to play 35 matches and five times to sign at the gate of opponents.

As a manager

We must pay tribute to the leadership of the "Bavaria", which immediately found in the club a post for its legend. However, it should also be noted that in 1980 the Munichers were not as powerful a machine as they are now. It was a club with a modest budget and solid debts, which the champion's title has not submitted to for five years.

Uli Henness held at the helm of the "Bavaria" for more than thirty years, became its president and turned the Munich team into a true grandee of German and European football. During the reign of the functionary, the team won 16 times the national championship and twice - the Champions League. In 2016, after a three-year break, Henness was again elected president of the club, receiving unanimous support.

Imprisonment

Three years outside the management of the team mentioned above are not related to the emergence of a more worthy candidate for the presidency, but to problems with the law that Hennessy began in 2014. The functionary was charged with evading taxes (a fairly common in the world of football, including modern, reception).

However, unlike most modern football players and other football figures, Uli Henness did not deny his guilt and, in order to mitigate the punishment, agreed to a frank confession. The president of the "Bavaria" was accused of evading payment of 27 million euros and sentenced to three years in prison. In addition, he was removed from office by the president and a member of the supervisory board, as well as expelled from the Hall of Fame of German football. Henness was released early, in 2016, after which he immediately returned to the management of the football "empire" built by himself.
