The Youth Academic Russian Theater (RAMT) celebrates its anniversary in 2016

The Youth Academic Russian Theater (RAMT) is a temple of art, where traditions and experiences uniquely combine with modern trends, new forms and genres. The idea of creation belongs to Natalia Sats, who, in acute post-revolutionary times, tried to look with new eyes at the future of dramatic art.

History of creation

The Youth Academic Russian Theater (the first name - the Moscow Theater for Children) was opened in 1921 with the performance "The Pearl of Adalmina". Tale of Topelius put an unknown, but gifted director I. Novikov. The designer and the main artist appointed A. Vesnin, who not only prepared sketches of costumes and scenery, but also wrote advertising posters, and also created the first version of the emblem of the theater.

The second time the theater was renamed after the premiere of "Sergei Streltsov" by V. Lyubimova in 1936. The Central Children's Theater was known and loved not only in Moscow, but throughout Russia. The touring group traveled all the major cities of the country and friendly states. In 1992 the theater received the name, which we can see today on the posters - the Russian Academic Youth Theater (RAMT). In 1987 he was given the status of academic.

Let us quote the statement of the artistic director A. Borodin on the title: "According to Dahl," youth "includes such age concepts as childhood and adolescence. By its name we assume a unique repertoire for all spectators. And small children with parents, teenagers, and elderly citizens will always find performances for us in their interests. "

Unique building

The building (the modern Youth Academic Russian Theater) was originally planned as a drama institution and was built according to the project of F. Shestakov in 1821 according to all the rules of the stage space. Acoustic data, the location of the stage and the auditorium correspond to high design standards. The project involved Moscow architect IO Bove, who supervised the reconstruction of Moscow after a fire that destroyed part of the capital in 1812.

The building is a monument of architecture and historical heritage. Initially, it was played by artists from the tour theaters from Yaroslavl and St. Petersburg. Creative noblemen, who had serf theaters, brought performances to the Moscow public. The building at that time was known as Shelaputin's drama. In the middle of the century, A. Ostrovsky often assembled an Artistic Circle in this room. For several years the new Imperial Theater occupied a convenient platform for performances, but abandoned it for unknown reasons. Until 1917, Zimin's opera worked here, after 1921 the stage was set up by MA Chekhov and directed by the Moscow Art Theater of the 2nd. After the Great Patriotic War, the Maly Theater worked in the room.

Alexei Vladimirovich Borodin

In 1980, Alexei Borodin takes over the management of the theater. Born a famous director in 1941 in China, in Qingdao. Until 1980 he worked as the chief stage director in the Kirov Youth Theater. In 1987 he received the title of People's Artist. Since 1971, he is a teacher of RATI (Academy of Theater Arts).

At the Russian Academic Youth Theater, Alexei Vladimirovich came with his production group: director E. Dolgina and stage designer S. Benediktov. The first performance on the new stage, based on Hugo's novel The Les Miserables, receives the State Prize. In 1983, Borodin staged Ostrovsky's play "Poverty is not a vice" reveals the Small Scene.

Sign Events

The production of B. Akunin's novel "Ernest Fandorin" had such success among the audience that the author writes for the theater a staging of "Yin and Yan" (two versions). Alexei Borodin puts both performances, where a young generation of actors works alongside the stage masters.

A grandiose event in its scale is the "Utopia Coast" of 2007. Trilogy novels received a super prize at the competition of theatrical productions "Golden Mask". After the project was shown in Spain, the "Murdo" columnist called the play a masterpiece.

In the 2009-2010 season, the Youth Academic Russian Theater has produced 13 performances. This list includes performances by Borodin himself and a pleiad of young filmmakers within the creative laboratory.
