The reconstruction of Yaroslavl highway

In the autumn of last year, a major reconstruction of the Yaroslavl highway was successfully completed. This event was for the Muscovites and guests of the capital long-awaited. The reconstruction works lasted about a year and a half and created considerable inconveniences, but it was necessary to do it.

Reasons for reconstruction

The capacity of the existing highway was almost exhausted. This was evidenced by constant traffic jams that did not even occur during rush hours and without any special reason. The long overdue reconstruction of the Yaroslavl highway was designed to bring one of the main Moscow highways into a proper modern view. And some success in this direction has already been achieved. Those who travel here constantly, unanimously note that the time for the road began to go almost half as much.

What we managed to do

The plan for the reconstruction of the Yaroslavl highway implied the creation of a continuous, non-traffic-free zone of traffic. And such a stretch of about 12 kilometers now exists. It stretches from the Third Ring Road to Moscow Ring Road, the journey time on this section of the route takes no more than a quarter of an hour. To do this, we had to do a large amount of work on the construction of overpasses over intersections and side-by-side double detours. The most significant object here was a modern overpass at the intersection with Malygin Avenue. In addition, the reconstruction of the Yaroslavl highway included the creation of a separate dedicated lane for the movement of public transport. Do not forget and pedestrians, during the reconstructed route appeared three underground passages in addition to those that existed before. The adopted scheme for the reconstruction of the Yaroslavl highway meant the maximum unloading of the main lanes along the highway. For this purpose more than eleven kilometers of peripheral redundant driveways have been laid. Several large intercepting parking lots have been equipped , the work in this direction has not been completed to the full.

What remains to be done

The ongoing reconstruction of the Yaroslavl highway allowed to stabilize the traffic on the highway within the city limits to a considerable extent. But the project can not be considered fully completed. Yaroslavl highway, going in the northeast direction, provides communication with many cities of the Moscow region, and the flow of traffic in both directions is very intense. And there is still a lot to do here. Especially significant problems after the reconstruction began to arise when leaving the city. After crossing the Moscow Ring Road, the number of lanes on Yaroslavka has remained unchanged, and the highway in this place already. Here there is a so-called "bottleneck", where congestion is constantly formed. And this is only one of the areas that require intervention. The second stage of reconstruction means carrying out of works up to 47th kilometer of a line. According to the planned plans, this site is to be completed by the end of 2015. The work is currently underway.
