The legendary Kerambit knife. Construction and technology of use

Every sane person sooner or later thinks about how to secure himself, and eventually resorts to various types of self-defense. It can be some kind of military equipment or pepper spray, and someone acquires a cold weapon. It is impossible to say which is better, but if you are an untrained person, it is better not to grab a knife, besides, for the one to which you need a specific approach and knowledge of the techniques of possession. For example, the Kerambit knife (in the foreign literature it is called carambit) is a weapon with a legendary form and a rich history. Its blade has a crescent shape and is sharpened from the inside. The handle also has a distinctive feature: at the end it has a ring, in which the finger is slipped at the grip, as a rule, the index finger.

Traditional and modern models

Invented such a weapon was in the Malay Archipelago, the earliest mention of it refers to the XIV century. The Kerambit knife was used not only as a means of attack or self-defense, but also for domestic purposes. Filipinos, for example, using such knives climbed the palm trees, and also used them for ritual purposes (if you look closely, the shape of the knife resembles a claw of a tiger). At one time the weapon was considered female, because it was easy to hide it in the folds of the skirt. It is in the traditional form that it reached us, but, unfortunately, everything is undergoing changes. In the modern market, you can even see folding kerambit or with an elongated handle, for a direct grip. Of course, in this situation, another technique is needed, different from the classical one, but everything depends on the preparation.

Design Advantages

With the appearance, everything is clear, but how to keep it and what to do with it? The person who took it in his hands for the first time, it is very difficult to figure out what the Kerambitch knife is so interesting and dangerous in the fight. Firstly, the grip itself involves passing the index finger through the ring, which makes it virtually impossible to knock out or lose a weapon in a fight. Secondly, Kerambite can be given a spin, which makes the attacks unpredictable and gives an advantage. You can increase the amplitude of the movement of the gun and strike, even if the opponent dodges. Among other things, it is not so easy for them to inflict serious wounds, which is very valuable in self-defense. The most you can do is cut the muscles or tendons. The enemy is frightened not so much by pain as by the amount of his blood, and is retired as soon as possible.

Another important advantage is that the Kerambit knife is invisible, since you do not need to frighten people on the street. If you decide to purchase such a specimen of cold steel, then pay attention to the quality of steel and the strength of the structure, as well as the convenience - grab, twist. The main thing is to make it as easy as possible to use kerambit. Its price varies in the most varied limits, it all depends on the manufacturer and the quality of the goods. You can find an offer for 290 rubles, but there are also options for 12.3 thousand rubles.

Technique of Ownership

Of course, at first Kerambit wants to take the usual direct grip, even there are models that assume exactly this kind of possession, but all the above advantages can be applied only with the traditional grip. This type of weapons is included in the standard ammunition of some types of troops in different countries of the world, as well as rapid reaction teams. The military, using kerambit, undergo special training in order to learn the technique of owning this non-standard knife. It should be noted that without such preparation, it is unlikely that the gun will be used, and even harm can be done to itself.
