The largest zoo in Russia. Moscow, Rostov and Novosibirsk zoos

Zoos of Russia, sad as it may seem, lag behind development from foreign institutions of this kind. This may be due to a lack of funding, or with slightly higher maintenance costs, since in winter heating costs are more than a significant amount of money, in comparison with the southern countries. But nevertheless, many of them are worthy representatives, with professional workers, who love their work.

Zoos always need help from the state, from patrons and from ordinary people: keeping animals is very expensive. Moreover, from such parks it is required not only to keep animals in good conditions, but also to provide comfort to a huge number of visitors.

Moscow Zoo

The journey through the zoosad of Russia begins with the Moscow ancient zoological park, where there are more than 900 species of animals. The area is 22 hectares (this is not the largest zoo in Russia). Its history begins on January 31, 1864, when the Zoo was opened on the territory of Presnensky Ponds (on the Presnya River). It is there that Tsereteli's monument depicts various paintings from Russian fairy tales.

The water surface of ponds in this zoological park is a center, both architectural and planning solution, and the centers of expositions. They are home to hundreds of birds. Water is not only a habitat for animals, but also helps to reduce sudden temperature changes. In the summer, when the whole city is unbearably hot, both visitors and animals do not feel its influence, thanks to the shade of the trees and the cool breeze from the ponds.

The Zoological Garden lives an active life: various events, educational and scientific works are held, clubs and clubs for children are organized. Since 2013, a volunteer program has been opened. Zoo volunteers make sure that visitors do not feed animals with their "own" food, they are on duty at cages where babies were born to relieve them of unnecessary restlessness, spend holidays, take care of animals and much more. In exchange, a volunteer can get a free ticket to enter any part of the zoo, and students can practice.

About planning

The zoo is divided into parts that differ in geographical and systematic features:

Old territory:

  • Cats of the tropics;
  • An island of pinnipeds;
  • The territory of elephants;
  • Fauna of Russia;
  • Night world;
  • Rocks with birds of prey.

New territory:

  • The polar world;
  • "Barnyard";
  • Animals of Africa and others.

Old and new territories are divided by the Big Georgian street, they are connected by a high bridge. From closed compositions in the zoo you can visit the terrarium, exotarium, the world of monkeys, the exhibition of reptiles and amphibians, the house of birds, a room with birds and butterflies, a room with aquariums, a lecture hall and a museum of the history of the zoo.

sights

On the site of the zoo you can find out the schedule of feeding animals, watch a video, read about the history and news of the park, and even you can go on it virtually! And special events are organized for the birthday people.

An open "aviary" with Japanese macaques is of interest to visitors. This area without fencing grid or fence, as we used to, and deepened down, with special gaming equipment and a small pond. Visitors watch the monkeys from above. This protects the inhabitants of the zoo from excessive noise. This method is present everywhere.

The round aviary for birds is very curious. The mesh circle, as if protecting a tree, which is enclosed inside it and serves as a home for small birds. In the summer he is wrapped in lianas, which looks very attractive: visitors are almost always photographed in this place.

Benefits

From a modern point of view, the Moscow Zoo uses a multilevel method. Lifting the way of pedestrian traffic over the ground, the zoo saves space, gives them to additional places for animals or under nature. Multilevel allows you to disperse the flow of people, helping to get rid of a large pandemonium near the frontal exposures.

Great attention is paid to the planting of greenery. You can see how the streams of people among themselves berso with lianas or stripes from the Cossack juniper are correctly divided. Of plants, a special preference is given to spherical (willow self-growing), with a regular crown, with decorative coloring of the leaves. Compositions from plants support beauty, bringing a healthy environment to the Moscow Zoo. The ticket price for adults is 500 rubles. Children, students, pensioners, invalids and others (eligible for benefits) are free.

From the main entrance (from the side of Barrikadnaya Street), from the transition to a new territory, beautiful panoramas to the water surface of ponds surrounded by greenery with a colorful variety of water birds open. Yet, not only the variety of animals, but also the landscape (a large number of water surfaces) - make this zoo special.

Policy

The Moscow Zoo especially appreciates its long-living animals, including many sick and old pets. They are followed by special observations and care. Among such animals are known white beauty tigress Kali, gorilla Ama, Shinda and Papsi, tundra wolf, giraffe Samson.

The policy of the park fully adheres to the proverb: "We are responsible for those who have tamed."

Barnaul Zoo

Appeared relatively recently, in 1995. A small zoological park attracts its visitors with 16 rare animals, its scientific and educational activities, as well as excursions. The territory of the park is small, compact, but it often organizes exhibitions, lectures. For example, this winter an exhibition of cocks was held.

Barnaul Zoo can not yet be compared with such developed structures, such as the Moscow Zoo. The ticket price for adults is 200 rubles, and there are also preferential free tickets for certain categories of citizens.

Rostov Zoo

This is the largest zoo in Russia - its area reaches about 100 hectares! It accommodates 5,000 animals. The special value of this zoo is that it is active in the conservation of rare and endangered animals (white-tailed eagle). Recently, the park celebrated the birth of a little elephant.

The Rostov Zoo is an excellent place for a family holiday, where cages with animals change to large green glades for active recreation or to the shore of the lake for privacy. Here you can come to see a variety of flora and fauna, or just break a picnic in a forest glade with your relatives.

The largest zoo in Russia, although it lags behind the level of improvement from the Moscow, but is gradually developing and restoring, improving the level of comfort, both for animals and for people.

Of course, a zoological garden with such a large area should expand the boundaries of the movement of animals. We need to move away from the usual square fences with a grid of wires and look for landscape ways of dividing the exposure area from the inspection area. It is necessary to invest finance in improving the living conditions of animals.

Since the territory is huge, you need to set pointers, guide people, because the largest zoo in Russia should be interactive and understandable for visitors.

Novosibirsk Zoo

Another of the largest zoosades in Russia is 63 hectares. It has many interesting differences from other zoological gardens. For example, on the territory there is a liger. The liger is a hybrid of a lion and a tiger. The first in Russia appeared here.

But this is not all that the Novosibirsk Zoo boasts: polar bears have recently acquired a second offspring, and 38 young were obtained from snow leopards over 10 years - this is a huge contribution to the conservation program of this species.

Zoo of the city of Blagoveshchensk

A small Amur zoo, unfortunately, is closed due to bankruptcy. Had an area of 9 hectares and about 60 species of animals. Their fate is unknown.

Conclusion

I would like to hope that the zoos of our country, as centers of environmental education, will only grow every year and attract more attention from citizens.
