Lakrei Forest (Cheboksary) is the largest park in the city. Originated on the territory of a natural oak grove, it is full of birds, rare trees and pleases holiday-makers with equipped recreation areas, attractions and comfort at any time of the year.

History

Lakrei Forest (Cheboksary) received its name as a legacy from the village of Lakreiha, once located in local places, the owner of the settlement was the landowner F. A. Lakreev-Popov. A long time passed, and the city line reached the thinning forest, where in 1957 it was decided to equip the park area.

The park "Lakreevsky Forest" (Cheboksary) received active development in the 70s. For the comfort of tourists, works were carried out, which resulted in the central alley and the bridge across the ravine. In 1978, the park received a modern name and its status as a natural monument was determined.

In the 80s, the territory of the park was reconstructed, which resulted in a zone for active recreation, expanded the area of quiet rest and a playground. The main facade, administrative and economic buildings were renovated and received improved functionality. In the 90s, a landscape design was made, flower gardens appeared.
