The Great Simaginskoye Lake is a place for rest and fishing

One of the most picturesque places is the Big Simaginskoe Lake. On hot days, dozens of people tend to get on a steep sandy beach, on which are the most beautiful pine trees. But you can relax here, not only admiring nature. Many fishermen choose these places for their leisure.

Description of the lake

The Great Simaginskoe Lake is located in the Leningrad Region, in the Vyborgsky District. In the people it is known as the Beauty. This is understandable, because this pond is distinguished by golden beaches, and pine trees, fir trees and other trees stretch along the picturesque shores. Also, the green surface of the water in some places is bordered by unusually beautiful cliffs.

The lake was stretched for 2.5 km, and its width is slightly more than a kilometer. The total area of the Beauty is 2.7 km ² . The deepest place of the reservoir is 19 m. The eastern shores of the lake are very beautiful and high. Steep cliffs are densely covered with pines, and the forest reaches the Zelenogorsk Highway.

On the south side, heading to the west, the shore of the lake begins to drop, becoming less steep. On its banks, in addition to pines, appear spruce, and closer to the water in some areas are birches. Already from the western side the coast becomes flat and instead of a forest the sun-drenched meadows adorn.

Beauty replenished from the flowing Yuli-Yoki. Also, the Great Simaginskoe Lake has an outflowing river of Ala-Yoki, which is heading towards the Gulf of Finland.

Because the lake has high banks, it mixes water very badly. That is why in the summer, the upper water layers can warm up to 23 degrees, and already at a depth of 8 meters the temperature does not exceed 15 degrees.

Cottages are being built around the lake in accessible places. Also on the beach there is a former children's camp.

Rest on the lake

In summer, most holidaymakers prefer this lake. The fact is that there are a lot of wide (up to 4 meters) sandy beaches, and the water itself makes you feel at the resort. On the mirror surface there is no debris, packets or garbage. The average visibility is 1-3 meters deep. Also in the forests you can find mushrooms.

Fishing on the lake

Many fishermen who live nearby, go for a catch to the Bolshoi Simaginskoye lake. Fishing here can bring pleasure, because in the pond there is pike, burbot, bream, bream, perch, rudd, ruff. But it is best to go to such a "hunt" in the summer, because already in the late spring, the underwater inhabitants become active. For fishing, you can use the boat, but also a good option for coastal fishing. Large predators here come across very rarely, but still no one remains empty-handed, because the biting is active.

Winter fishing is also practiced, but the fish bite is not so fast and quick, so the effectiveness in the cold season is reduced.

How to get there?

The transportation issue may arise regardless of why you are going to the Great Lake of Simago. How to get to the destination? Minibuses from St. Petersburg to Ilyichev, but flights are not frequent. Therefore, many decide first to get on a minibus to Zelenogorsk (en route is 1 hour). From here you can take a taxi. It will cost inexpensively, since the distance to Ilichevo is 12 km. Ask to stop at the bus stop, there is a bus schedule back. After 15 minutes walk you will find yourself on the lake.

Historical events

The Great Simaginskoe Lake is a historical value for some, since in the summer of 1917 Lenin was hiding in its vicinity. He took refuge in the village of Yalkala, on the north-western side of the pond. In the Soviet years, there was organized a memorial museum of Lenin, which in 1993 became a museum-reserve called "Yalkala."

On the banks from the northern side of the lake there is the village of Il'ichevo. In this place, the State Hydrological Institute in the 1950s arranged its experimental base.
