The city on the Amur, population. Khabarovsk and Krai

The settlement on the Amur River, called Khabarovsk, was given the status of a city on May 10, 1880. This is the administrative center of the Khabarovsk Territory. Located on the right bank of the Amur River, not far from the confluence of this river with Ussuri. The distance from Khabarovsk to Moscow is 6100 km. For this reason, few people from Muscovites know what kind of city it is, how many people live and what the population does. Khabarovsk is a large city in the Far Eastern Federal District, so it is worth learning about it a little more.

Number of

The population of Khabarovsk is growing, albeit at a slower pace than we would like. So, back in 2003 there lived 580,400 people. In early 2015, more than 607 thousand people were registered. These data are proposed for general consideration by the federal service of state statistics.

More than 90% of the population of Khabarovsk is the Russian population. The remaining percentage is represented by Ukrainians, natives of the Caucasus, Kazakhs, Tatars and other nationalities of our country. Representatives of indigenous peoples of the North in the city is extremely small. Most of the remaining indigenous people live in rural areas of the province, not seeking to conquer the administrative center of the region.

The population of Khabarovsk has a curious structure - 54.1% of the total number are women. This inequality is all the more strange because 51% of boys are born according to statistics. However, by the age of 30 the difference is nullified, and by the age of 35 years it has become inverse. This happens for the most part, as experts say, because of the high level of stress in heavy work, on which, as a rule, more men are employed. In addition, demographically in recent years, the population has grown old. Over the past 10 years, the proportion of children under 14 has declined by 3%, while the elderly have increased by 3.5%. Khabarovsk "grows old" literally before our very eyes.

Employment

Khabarovsk is an administrative center, but in the city there is also a production that provides jobs to a large number of citizens.

The basic enterprises supporting the economy of the city are Dalmoststroy, Khabarovsk Shipbuilding Plant, Energomash, Khabarovsk Oil Refinery, Rimbunan Hijau Forestry Complex. The city lives in oil industry, construction, food industry and woodworking. In addition, a large number of entertainment and recreation enterprises determine the employment of the population. Khabarovsk in recent years has grown significantly, acquired a much more European face than it was 15-20 years ago. This has led to the fact that the city is often visited by tourists, a large number of foreign investors come here, mainly from South Korea and Japan.

Despite the large number of jobs in production, in the service sector and other organizations, a very large proportion of the unemployed population. Khabarovsk, like many other cities in the country, is experiencing not the best time in the economic plan. The labor market in this city reflects an imbalance in the all-Russian employment services. So, now the percentage of workers with outdated professions is very high. In addition, the preparation in recent years of those professionals who had previously needed, led to the fact that the labor market is oversaturated with these specialties. The same professions, which were abundant 5-10 years ago, are not enough for today.

Of the registered unemployed citizens in Khabarovsk, more than 54% are women. 26.5% of the unemployed have a higher education. In rural areas of the Khabarovsk Territory, the unemployment rate exceeds 45%.

Outflow

The population in the Khabarovsk Territory has increased in recent years. However, this happens in a somewhat non-standard way. The fact is that only in 2011 there were more than 14 thousand registered who left the region. Instead, more than 18,000 labor migrants from different countries arrived, which is why we can talk about population growth.

The able and qualified young people prefer to move to the European part of the country, where there are many more worthy prospects for young people. The government of the region and the country does nothing to interest people with long living in the Far Eastern Federal District. The minimum benefits available to residents do not cover the inconveniences and shortcomings of living in a remote region of the country.

Forecasts

If the situation does not change in the near future, the researchers believe that the situation will worsen. Every year, the region and the city are losing their able-bodied population. Khabarovsk already feels a shortage of skilled workers. Every year the situation will become more aggravated. Where it leads? Time will tell.
