The end of World War II

In our country, often the Great Patriotic War is replaced by the concept of World War II and vice versa. And although they are interrelated and intersect, the actual completion of the Great Patriotic War was on May 8, when the governments of the allied countries and representatives of the supreme authority of Germany signed a pact on the capitulation of the defeated country; The next day, on May 9, Soviet troops finally defeated the German army in Prague, and only on June 24 the victory parade took place . These events marked the end of the Second World War on a vast territory throughout Europe. However, the fact that, apart from Europe, the countries outside the Eurasia took part in the war, it is forgotten. Therefore, the end of the Second World War came much later, but more about this in more detail.

As is known, the Second World War was held not only on the site of the venerable Europe. As an ally, the United States joined the anti-fascist coalition, on the other hand, Japan opposed them.

If initially Japan was not enemy No. 1 for the Soviet Union, then, according to the agreement of the friendly parties in Yalta in February 1945, the Union government announced the beginning of military operations against Japan, thereby abolishing the neutrality pact between these states, signed in 1941. It was from this moment that the most developed countries of the time participated officially in the military operations of the Second World War.

Strictly speaking, Japan unofficially throughout the war participated in military operations. A huge number of Japanese scouts, using their position as citizens of a neutral state, freely transferred information to Berlin, Japanese servicemen detained more than 170 merchant ships.

Thus, the decision to start the military actually had no effect on the political relations between Japan and the USSR.

So, after the capitulation of Germany, there was one clear and very serious opponent - Japan. The end of World War II without the defeat of this country was impossible.

As you know, the main battles took place between the military forces of Japan and the United States, which pursued their economic benefits. Japan's actions were aimed at preserving the land and striving to get out of the battle with the least losses. Thus, the Japanese leadership was ready to accept the conditions of surrender with those only reservations that the political system of the Land of the Rising Sun will be preserved, and the state itself will not be occupied by the allies. Such claims to the heads of state of friendly states seemed too bold and were rejected. Only on August 10 Japan recognized the capitulation, again insisting that the power of the emperor will remain at the same level. Not having received an affirmative answer from the supreme rulers of the countries-opponents, Japan continued to "lead a holy war".

Only on August 14, 1945 the Japanese emperor issued a decree according to which Japan accepts the demands of the Potsdam Declaration, and all servicemen are ordered to lay down their arms and cease military operations, which marked the end of the Second World War.

However, some units of the infamous Kwantung Army continued to resist the offensive movement of the Red Army until August 19. Battles to suppress the resistance of the Japanese continued for a long time in the territory of the Kuril Islands.

19.08.1945 all units of the Kwantung Army began to surrender to the Soviet military or to lay down their arms. The attack, lasting about 10 days, was one of the brightest manifestations of the combat power of the Soviet Union.

Already on August 23 solemn salute in Moscow was held for the glory of warriors-winners.

Officially, the end of World War II came in September 1945, 2 numbers, aboard the American ship "Missouri", where the confirmation of Japan's capitulation was fixed by the signatures of not only all the heads of the union republics, but also the rulers of the defeated states.

So, at the very beginning of September 1945, namely, 2 numbers, the end of the Second World War became official.
