The drug "Fluomizin" is used in gynecology as an antiseptic for topical application. The dequalinium chloride included in its composition is an active substance of a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity.

For the drug "Fluomizin" (candles), the instruction informs about the following indications. The drug is used to treat bacterial vaginitis of trichomonas and candidiasis origin, as well as for the sanation of the birth canal (before surgery or childbirth). In addition, the drug is used to restore the vaginal microflora in dysbacteriosis caused by prolonged drug therapy.

Pharmacokinetics

A small amount of dequalinium chloride in vaginal administration is absorbed into the bloodstream through the mucous membrane, metabolized and then excreted through the intestine.

How to use the drug "Fluomizin" (candles)?

Instructions for use of this drug recommends the introduction of one vaginal tablet once a day. For greater effectiveness, you should perform this procedure before going to bed. A qualitative introduction of the drug is possible only in prone position.

During menstruation, it is not recommended to use the drug "Fluomizin" (candles). Instruction for use advises to continue the interrupted course of treatment after its termination.

To avoid recurrence of the disease, you should use the drug for at least six days.

During pregnancy, the drug "Fluomizin" (candles) is prescribed for the sanation of the birth canal.

If during the lactation period there was a need to use the drug in the treatment of a woman, in this case it is recommended to stop breastfeeding.

Side effects

At the heart of this pharmaceutical drug is metronidazole. Flagil has antiprotozoal, antiulcer and antibacterial action.

Flagil is active against protozoa (Entamoeba histolytica, Trichomonas vaginalis), anaerobic gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms (Bacteroides fragilis, Clostridium, Eubacterium), cocci (Peptostreptococcus, Peptococcus) and Helicobacter pylori.

Side effects

Headache, leukopenia, dizziness, epileptic seizures, ataxia, vomiting, stomach pain, nausea, pruritus, diarrhea, allergy, dark urine, thrombophlebitis, erythematous rashes.

Dosage

The medicinal preparation "Flagil" in the form of candles is taken at intervals of 500 mg for 10 days.

special instructions

With the use of this drug and metronidazole, the development of candidiasis is possible. In this case, it is recommended to take antifungal drugs.
