Teaching Mathematics With Diapers

Every mother wants her child to be genius and puts maximum effort into it. My baby is 9 months old, but now I represent him as a student at Moscow State University. And so that my dreams come true, I decided to start teaching the child math (albeit at such an early age). Of course, you can spend a lot of money on tutors and children's courses, but who better than your own mother will be able to convey knowledge to the child? In addition, all courses are designed for children from 2 years, and a mathematics tutor is not small money. That's why I decided to try myself to develop my own baby. Once I read the book "How to teach a child to mathematics," the author G.Doman, D.Doman and decided to take for the bases of their recommendation. The system outlined in the book does not require any global material costs. It's enough to spend money on cardboard, glue, red paper and scissors. But, all in order.

Training consists of several stages.

Stage 1 - the recognition of quantity. The child perceives all the numbers specifically, that is, 1 - 1 candy, 2 - two candy, etc. To the kid correctly perceived the number, you need to make cards on which will be glued red circles (from 1 cup to 100, ie 100 cards). For numbers from 1 to 80, A4 format sheets will fit, from 81 to 100 the card should be increased by approximately 10-20 cm. The stencil for the circle is a 2 ruble coin. On the reverse side, you must write what corresponds to the value of each card, because you must see what you are showing. This is the most difficult part of the entire course, requiring colossal patience (especially when you get to the number 100). So, the cards are ready. You show the kid 10 cards a day, in just 3 days a day. You can show 5 cards and do 6 lessons per day. Classes should be extremely short - from 5 to 10 seconds (1 card - 1 second). Each day, you remove 2 cards with the smallest quantitative value and add the following 2 cards. I do not know if my child understands the whole global meaning, which I want to convey to him, but he is simply delighted with these red circles.

Stage 2. After you have reached the number 20, you can explain the child with the help of the same cards addition. For example, you explain 1 + 2 = 3. You hold a card with one circle and say "one" (put a card), then say "plus", then take a card with two circles and say "two", and finally say "three" (take a card with three circles) . For the day, you need to show 9 examples - 3 sets of 3 examples. Prepare examples and cards in advance - the kid will not wait for you. I write down all the examples in a little book and check that there are no repetitions. On this system I showed addition - 3 weeks, subtraction - 3 weeks, multiplication - 4 weeks, division - 4 weeks. Do not forget, along with the examples you are studying the amount (step 1).

Stage 3. At this stage, I taught the child to solve examples. For example 6 + 2 * 4 = 14. You also pronounce and show the cards, as in the 2nd stage, only now in the example there are already two actions. After 2 weeks, you can solve the examples in 3 actions. Such examples we with the kid solved the whole 4 weeks.

Stage 4. At this stage we are now - recognizing numbers. It is necessary to make cards with numbers from 1 to 100. I also did A4 paper with a red marker, show cards on the same system as in step 1. As soon as we study the numbers from 1 to 100, we start to solve the examples.

The most important thing in teaching a child is a positive attitude. The kid should perceive learning as something fascinating. In the process, we are having fun, laughing, making faces. If I see that the kid is not in the mood and does not want to engage in - postpone the cards until better times. Sometimes we can not complete all 9 approaches, then we transfer our lessons for another day. I hope that with the help of these activities the kid will not even become a genius, but he certainly will not have problems with mathematics at school.
