Summary. Oblomov is the work of I. Goncharov

The novel "Oblomov", a summary of which is given in this article, was published in 1859. It was written by the famous Russian writer Ivan Goncharov. The work was done tremendously. The novel was written for 10 years. After the work was finished, the author admitted that in it he told about his life. He also points out that he, with the protagonist of the novel, the nihilist Oblomov, unites many common features. Immediately after publication, the work became the subject of heated debate among critics and writers.

Familiarity with the main characters

The scene of the novel is St. Petersburg, Gorokhovaya street. Here Ilya Ilyich Oblomov lives with his servant Zachar. The main character, being a young man, leads an idle way of life. He does not do anything, except that he talks all day about how to live, and dreams of a quiet life in his native village Oblomovka. Ilya Ilyich does not care at all about any problems: the fact that he is going to be evicted from the apartment, and that the economy is in complete decline. The young man has a friend, the opposite of him. This is Andrei Ivanovich Stolz. He is very active and active. Trying to dissolve his lazy friend, Andrew invites him to banquets in the best houses of St. Petersburg. It is unlikely that he will be able to convey all the feelings and thoughts of the main characters briefly. Oblomov is a novel that has not lost its relevance in our time. We highly recommend it for reading.

Oblomov fell in love

What happens next? After Oblomov began to travel to the world, he simply did not find out. He does not get up in the daytime, but in the morning, which he never did before, he is interested in everything around him and writes a lot. All the surrounding people are shocked by such a metamorphosis in the behavior of the young idler. What happened to him? It turns out that the young man fell in love. At one of the receptions Oblomov met Olga Ilyinskaya. She, in turn, answers him. The history of the development of their relations is unlikely to be given a summary. Oblomov soon invites Olga to marry.

Oblomov in the house on the Vyborg side

But this "effervescent activity" of the young nihilist did not last long. Soon he settles in the house of Agafia Matveyevna Pshenitsyn on the Vyborg side. This dwelling is as old and dilapidated as Oblomov himself will soon become. Olga tries to shake her beloved, pull him out of this "swamp." But, having come to his house, she realized that all her efforts would be in vain. Agafia Matveyevna takes care of Ilya Ilyich, preparing him for his favorite dishes and fixing old shabby things. Unexpectedly for herself, she realizes that she fell in love with her master. Soon they had a son Andryusha. It is impossible to follow the changes in the life of the protagonist, if only through the eyes only a brief summary. Oblomov did not immediately become a prisoner of his "blessed paradise" in the house of Agafia. Trying to free himself from the tenacious ways of laziness and apathy, at first he tries to renew his relationship with Olga. But soon the quagmire of idleness and lethargy finally sucks it.

Love of Olga and Stolz

Here is only a brief summary of Oblomov. In the full version of the novel you will read about how Olga's love affair with Stolz was born and developed. In the article, we only mention how once our heroine realized that Andrei had ceased to be just a friend for her. Shtoltsu always liked Olga, and her attitude towards Oblomov opened her on the new side for her lover. These two were born to be happy together.

Ending

The novel ends with a story about a small son of Andrei Oblomov. The main character is no longer alive. Dying, he begged his friend not to leave his son. Therefore, the Stolz, who also had children by that time, took little Oblomov for education. This novel was written in a difficult period in the history of Russia. To convey the fullness of the contradictory views and ways of the time can not be brief. Oblomov is a work that everyone will be able to read. After all, it contains the meaning of human existence.
