Stained-glass drawings by own hands. How to make sketches of stained-glass drawings

Amazing beauty glass mosaic paintings always attracted their gaze. Perhaps, few of us would have refused the pleasure of decorating their home with them. But only professional stained-glass drawings are not at all cheap. However, you can always try your hand at creativity.

Mosaic Technology

What is a stained glass window? This is a kind of puzzle of glass details. Through the multicolored translucent elements, light passes, causing the drawing to come to life. For home artists there are three main ways of creating such mosaic masterpieces. The most complicated is the stained-glass drawings, assembled from the prepared glass parts. Slightly easier is a method based on the use of a special film. Well, with the stained-glass paints will cope with the child. Now a little more about each method.

Jewelry work

Let's start with the difficult one. Of course, you will have to make maximum efforts, but as a result you will get a stained-glass window, which you can be justly proud of. So, we will need pieces of colored glass, a solution consisting of one part of cement, three parts of sand and one part of PVA-glue. Some prefer to work with silicate glue.

Now let's take the cardboard. The sheet must be dense and exactly the size of the future mosaic. Next, take a look at the finished schemes of stained-glass drawings. They are not difficult to find. If you are not completely sure of your artistic taste, then choose the scheme on which the figures corresponding to certain colors on the sketch are shown. You can even look for sets that include a sketch, a numbered scheme and a set of glass parts.

But, if you do not find this, do not be discouraged. On the cardboard, transfer the outline of the drawing, carefully trace the contours of each element in the ink. Next, you need to cut out all these elements from colored glass with a glass cutter. Try to be extremely accurate and careful. Still, it's easy to cut about sharp edges. Cut out pieces of the future masterpiece to the diagram and check with the sketch. The edges of the details should be slightly cleaned in the finale with a sandpaper.

Then you need to connect all the elements with glue, which is applied to the joints.

There is a technique without the use of glue. It requires a metallized foil. It wraps the elements of the picture. Then the parts are spiked. The stitches will firmly bind all the elements of the mosaic.

Stained glass paintings

This method is less time-consuming. And with a self-adhesive film to work much safer.

We reserve ourselves before the beginning of the work with a color film according to the scale of the selected sketch. We buy a special lead tape. And scotch, scissors and a marker will be found in any household.

Now take the glass. For example, this may be the facade of your interior door. We clean the glass surface. Under it we put the printed out scheme. Now, for every detail, apply a film of the necessary shade, squeeze it evenly against the glass and cut it out into the shape of the element. Remove unnecessary. And in this way, a piece by piece, pasting our picture.

In the finale, we translate the outlines to film. Then on these very contours we lay out self-adhesive lead tape. We circumnavigate carefully, without stepping out of borders, carefully cutting corners and carefully verifying the joints.

In the final of painstaking work, we are waiting for a transformed door that has become an exclusive one.

Pick up the paint

And now we will master the most pleasant technique, allowing to create stained-glass drawings with our own hands. It is so simple that you can quite trust it to your children.

In order for you to get to work, you need to buy special colors. In their composition there is glue, because they are so thick. But the most wonderful thing is that after drying they become transparent. The thin nose, with which all the tubes are supplied, makes it possible to study even the most elegant details.

The technology consists of several stages. At first, the circuit is printed, then this scheme is placed under the glass substrate. After that, in a box of paints, find a tube with a contour and begin to trace all the lines of the circuit. Do not forget to lock them in the joints. Once you do this, wait until the contours are completely dry, and then start filling in the elements with colors.

With this technology, you can make amazing stickers. For them it is only necessary to change the basis. Stained-glass drawings in this case are performed on a film file for papers. A printout of the scheme is put into the file. And then the operations are performed in an already familiar sequence. Only after drying, the pattern is carefully removed from the substrate and adhered to the surface that attracted attention.

Do it yourself

Now let's see how to create beautiful sketches of stained-glass drawings. Yes, it will not be difficult to find amazing pieces. But sometimes, getting into the taste of free creativity, I want to do everything myself. From start to finish. So let's see how these schemes are outlined.

The most important (strict and compulsory) rule is that the contours of the sketch must always be closed. If in any place you allow even a tiny line break, then the paint will flow. Or you will break your head for a long time over how to make a piece of glass here. Remember, our drawing consists of separate pieces!

Well, the way to create the sketch itself, you yourself choose. Someone more comfortable to work with their hands: sit with a pencil and paper, draw lines, apply watercolor paint on a sketch.

And someone is more confident in the graphical editor. Especially in it you can always fix something, play with shades, print several variants of the future stained glass window.

Freedom of creativity

With a variety of materials presented by manufacturers, you can create the most amazing and unusual stained-glass drawings of flowers, butterflies, fish, fairy-tale creatures. Flowers made with colors with a flicker effect will look bulky. Pearl particles will give your mosaic a thin shine of silver, azure or gold. Helps to emphasize the texture of the pattern. A varnish craquelure gives the stained glass a cracked appearance, as if it were not five minutes old, but several centuries old.
