Sprained foot. What if the doctor is far away?

Summer is coming soon. Beaches, hiking, sports games. Statistics, which everyone knows, are assured: in the summer, it is usually possible to get injured. Because it is not only time to rest in nature. Summer is a time of short skirts, high heels. That's why the fashionable girls with complaints often come to the doctors: "I twisted my leg. What to do?"

But sometimes it's like that: getting to a specialist is simply not possible. Moreover, the pain that has arisen during a trauma, temporarily calms down, even if a rupture of ligaments has occurred . Usually it only intensifies the next day. Without the help of a doctor it can be difficult to get.

That's why it's so important to provide first aid at once. It is quite possible to do this, even if the trauma occurred far from home.

So, if the girl (or boy) has twisted the leg. What to do to prevent the occurrence of bruising, swelling, reduce pain?

Immediately after the injury to the tucked leg is recommended to attach ice. If it was not, the ankle can be left frozen with meat from the freezer. In extreme cases, you can make lotions from cold water. Apply cold for about 10 minutes, then give your leg a few minutes to warm. So repeat the action for an hour.

After cold procedures, it is the turn of warm compresses. It is good to moisten a clean cotton cloth with a warm decoction of arnica, keep it on your leg for two hours. All this time the fabric should remain wet and warm.

Trouble has occurred, has twisted a leg. What if there are no flowers of arnica at home? It is recommended to make a warm compress of milk or onions, mixed with honey.

And as soon as there is an opportunity, it is still necessary to seek medical help.

Sometimes there are more difficult troubles - dislocations. A dislocation is the sprain or rupture of the joint capsule, which arises from the displacement of the joints.

Is it possible to distinguish this trauma from stretching or rupturing of ligaments? Can. When stretching, bruises, sharp pain, swelling appear in a few hours. With the dislocation, the pain appears immediately, gradually increasing. Edema builds up very quickly. The finiteness at the displacement point is fixed in the wrong position. This is noticeable at first sight. You can not change the position.

It is more difficult to distinguish a dislocation from a fracture, in which the leg turns blue, swells, it hurts.

However, do not try to determine on your own, whether it's a bias or a fracture. All the same, you will need to consult a doctor, and the sooner, the more effective the treatment will be. A first aid for dislocation and fracture is similar.

What should I do if my leg dislocates? First of all, do not try to fix the joint yourself. To distinguish visual dislocation from a fracture is very difficult, therefore it is best to fix the limb in the position in which it remained after the trauma.

Fixation can be done with a bandage, scarf or scarf. It's good if you can use a board or another smooth and durable object as a tire.

But if you do not have a scarf or bandage at hand, but the girl has dislocated or twisted her leg. What to do? Try not to move, it is especially important not to step on the damaged limb.

After this, it is recommended that ice be applied to the site of the dislocation. What if I dislocated my leg and did not have ice? The same as with stretching: try to cool the joint with water, products from the refrigerator. And then necessarily go to the doctor.

If the pain is very severe, it is best to call an ambulance, which is obliged to take the victim to a traumatology. There certainly must be an x-ray. Without it, it is impossible to clarify the diagnosis.

If the doctor really diagnosed a dislocation, then he will necessarily impose a fixative bandage or gypsum.

In order not to be helpless at a critical moment, one should know well how to provide first aid.
