Laptop processor temperature: how to recognize it

Every owner of a mobile computer should know what the temperature of the laptop's processor is at any arbitrary time. If it is desirable for personal computers with full-sized cases, laptops are absolutely necessary. Despite the use of energy-efficient components in them, due to the insufficient size of the cooling elements and the small internal volume of the case, the temperature of the notebook processor often reaches its limiting values, which can not but affect the performance.

The explanation is quite simple: in addition to the CPU (CPU), there are a number of other components inside the laptop, such as a hard drive, memory modules, motherboard, etc. At high computing loads (converting multimedia files, modern computer games), the thermal power dissipated by the processor increases Up to the limit, depending on the CPU model used. In addition, the heat in the body is brought by the video card and hard disk.

As a result, the temperature of all components reaches high values, which can cause bad sectors on the hard drive (the screw "poured"), and on the elements of the motherboard such heating affects negatively. It is not worthwhile to trust the active cooling system without thought (fan, heat pipes, radiator), as its effectiveness decreases with time. Why? Because it is gradually clogged with household dust, and the resulting productivity is reduced, therefore, by systematically monitoring the temperature, you can not only indirectly determine the need to clean the internal components of dust, but also to protect the components from completely unnecessary overheating.

Fortunately, this situation can be avoided if you know what is the normal temperature of the notebook processor . There are three ways to determine it:

- to study on the forums the responses of owners of similar models and for the reference point to take an average value;

- Immediately after buying a new laptop you need to load it with calculations and find out at what temperature value its growth will stop;

- If the first two methods give approximate results, then for exact data you need to go to the site of the manufacturer of the CPU and in the given specifications to find the permissible value. Important: the temperature of the processor of the laptop, displayed on the manufacturer's website, shows not the nominal, but its limiting value. In other words, the processor may long hang from overheating, but remain unscathed.

For example, on the Intel site in the mobile processor section, you can find what is the normal temperature of the core 2 duo processor - it is usually 30% below the limit (note: the limit is specified). For model P7550 it is indicated that its limit is 90 degrees, so hangup can be expected when heated to 60-70 ° Celsius, although it depends on the series.

It is completely unclear why Microsoft has not yet included an informative panel displaying the temperature in its operating systems. The reality is that you have to install third-party software solutions in order to determine what is the temperature of the notebook processor.

Recommend the use of special programs that read the temperature. By periodically monitoring the heating, it is possible to determine at which points in time the CPU is loaded with computations and it is better to refrain from setting additional tasks for it. One of the best such programs is the free Core Temp. After installation, an icon appears in the system tray displaying the temperature of each core.

You can also use the programs AIDA64 and SiSoft Sadra. In order to see the temperature of the CPU first, follow it in the path "Computer - Sensors". Values are displayed for each core.

Do not forget about the well-known application of Speed Fan, whose capabilities are much wider than the simple reading of sensor values.
