Solvent P-4: specifications, purpose and application

The modern market of building materials is filled with paint and varnish products, for the dilution of which special solvents and diluents are needed. They are organic and inorganic in composition, and fast, universal and slow in evaporation rate. Each species is called to perform different functions. Among them, the R-4 solvent is distinguished by its versatility. It is an irreplaceable material in the performance of painting works, as it contributes to the increase of solubility of paint and varnish products.

Purpose and composition of the material

Solvent P-4 is designed for dilution of varnish -and- paint products made on the basis of copolymers of vinyl chloride, polyvinylchloride chlorinated and epoxy resins. It refers to complex solutions, since it contains more than two components. The solvent consists of such volatile organic substances as butyl acetate - 12%, acetone - 26%, toluene - 62%.

In the manufacture of this tool, modern technologies and equipment are used that ensure high quality. Solvent P-4 greatly improves the mixing process due to its properties. Its use makes it possible in a short time to obtain a uniform paint, completely ready for use.

Characteristics of the solvent

On the external basis, solvent P-4 is a transparent colorless or yellowish color, as well as a specific odor liquid. In it, the mass fraction of water is 0.7%; The acid number does not exceed 0.07 mg KOH / g; Flash point - 7 ° C; Number of coagulation - 24%; The autoignition temperature is 550 ° C.

The universal solvent P-4, the technical characteristics of which allow it to be used for work with many varnishes and enamels, are most in demand among consumers. The combination of the components of the three components effectively influences the adjustment of the density of paint and varnish products to the working viscosity.

Application

To dilute the varnishes and paints used in finishing the premises, as well as for surface preparation, solvent P-4 is used. Paintwork materials are applied to the surface in an even layer, therefore, they should not contain lumps that, when dried, separate. To bring them to the necessary consistency, the solvent is added to the enamel, primer, filler in small portions, while carefully mixing. Cleaning of surfaces from grease stains and old contaminants is carried out with rags soaked in solution. It evaporates, the formed film solidifies and becomes a protective coating for the surface to be treated.

Adding solvent P-4, whose price for 1 liter is 90 rubles, you reduce their consumption and increase the possibility of processing a larger surface area. Mixing rates recommended by the manufacturer are indicated on the solution package. Solvent P-4, technical characteristics of which are quite high, suitable for dilution of enamels ХВ-124 in gray and protective color. Also, this material can be used to dilute such mixtures:

  • Compositions of OS 51 03, 12 03;
  • Enamel "Evinal 28"; "Vinicolor"; EP 140, 439; "Vinicore 62"; HB 518, 125, 714, 1120; "Evicor";
  • Primers of HS 04, 062, 059, 077; "Vinicore 061"; EP 0263, 0103, 0508, 0259;
  • Varnishes of grades ХС 76, ХСЛ, ХС 724, ХВ 784;
  • Fillers EP 0020, HB 005.

Security measures

Solvent P-4 is a liquid that has strong irritant effects on the skin, mucous membranes of the organs of vision and breathing. It is toxic, flammable and even explosive. Solvent P-4 has a high volatility and belongs to the 3rd class of danger. Working with him, you should follow certain precautions.

To conduct work with the use of this material should be in rooms with supply and exhaust ventilation, away from open fire, at a temperature of +5 ... +30 ° C, and also with a relative humidity of 85%. When using the solvent, it is prohibited to smoke. This substance is explosive in contact with such oxidizing agents as acetic and nitric acids, hydrogen peroxide, as well as with chloroform and bromoform.

This material is toxic. During evaporation, it very quickly pollutes the air, which can cause serious damage to human health. For respiratory protection, a respirator must be worn. In case of contact with hands or other places, the solvent should be washed off with water.

Storage

Solvent P-4 is a fire hazardous and toxic substance, so it must be stored in a tightly closed container, away from heaters, food, electrical devices, inaccessible places for children, and avoid sunlight. It is supplied to the sales network in packagings made of materials resistant to its components. The room where the solvent is stored should not be flammable. Shelf life from the date of manufacture is 12 months.
