Scotch Scotch - a drink that is known and loved all over the world

The most favorite strong alcoholic beverage in the West, and not only there, undoubtedly, is whiskey. And in the list of the world's top 40 alcoholic beverages, 19 positions are held by its various brands. Also wide and the geography of its production. Even Japan and Australia are releasing their whiskey. But the manufacturers of the most famous brands are countries such as Ireland, Scotland, Canada and the United States. And get whiskey by distilling various cereals, with further exposure in oak barrels. So, the basis of Canadian whiskey is rye, American bourbon is distilled from corn, and Irish ayrish and Scotch scotch are obtained from barley.

In addition, different brands differ not only in cereal basis, but also in the frequency of distillation, aging and cooking traditions. So, the Americans for their bourbon only once use a completely new barrel of oak. And before use, it is burned from the inside. And on Irish distilleries three-time distilling of ayrish is carried out. Scots also fumigate malt, intended for whiskey, over peat. Although neither the Irish nor the Americans do this. As a result, every drink - scotch, bourbon or ayrish gets its individuality and uniqueness.

And the history of whiskey is very rich and goes back to the depths of centuries. Neither the Scots nor the Irish have yet decided who owns the primacy in his invention. At first, monks began to produce whiskey. They used the simplest distillers and used the resulting drink as a medicine. Then the technology of grain distillation "left" the walls of the monasteries. It was "taken up" by Scottish peasants who lived on barren land. They found in this their interest and began to drive Scotch tape. This drink cost well, and its sale gave a good income.

And in the 16-17 centuries among the Irish and Scots, production and, consequently, consumption of this drink widely spread. But the exposure of whiskey in those days was practiced very rarely. And most consumers drank it right after distillation. And drove the whiskey then from oats, rye and barley. Some distillers made a triple distillation of the same drink to enhance its strength. And soon the whole of Scotland, from poor peasants to the titled nobility, began to "intensively" use scotch. This drink gradually became a "natural disaster". And in order to somehow reduce the scale of drunkenness, the Scottish Parliament passed a law according to which distillation of whiskey was allowed only to the nobility and the nobility. But this "dry law", as it usually happens, did not bring results. Peasants-moonshiners simply went to the "underground".

But the time of this self-brewing has already passed, and in Scotland itself there are many whiskeys that produce real aged scotch. This drink is the first on sales among all brands of whiskey. Making scotch has become an art, and art does not like repetition. Therefore, the brands of Scotch whiskey are no less than the brands of the same French champagne. And in every whiskey there is a scotch with its taste and aroma.

Also, Scotch whiskey is divided into several main categories. And the single malt single Malts is considered the best. This is a kind of vintage scotch. This drink is made only from malted barley. And every copy of this whiskey is individual and unique and, therefore, not cheap. But there are also more simple and cheap (which does not mean bad) brands of Scotch whiskey. This is Blended or blended scotch. Such a drink consists of single malt whiskey, which is mixed with simpler grain alcohols. And three quarters of all Scotch Scotch production are blends that, nevertheless, are very popular all over the world.

And mass production of grain whiskey steel after 1830. Then the Irishman Ernest Coffey made a distillery, previously invented by the Scotsman Robert Stein, more perfect. This allowed to increase the volume of production of this drink and to master it on an industrial level. And according to technology, such whiskey is made from unsorted grain, to which must be added malted barley. And then this drink is used as a basis for various mixed whiskey.

And today the whole world knows such blended scotchs, like Catty Sark, Clan Campbell, Famous Grouse, Isle of Skye and many others. And to the real single malt Scotch whiskey are such brands: Aberlour, Balblair, Bowmore, Dalwinnie, Macallan and at least twenty brands of good Scottish scotch.
