Scabies in children: how to get rid

Scabies in children are contagious diseases of the skin. The disease is caused by itch mites, which can be located both on the surface of the skin and inside it.

It should be noted that only female mites cause harm and lead to the appearance of unpleasant symptoms, since males after fertilization almost immediately die. Deferred eggs develop within 2-3 weeks, and the average life span is about 2 months. Larvae and adults can not withstand high temperatures and exposure to steam, so when boiling and ironing, the iron instantly perishes. There is a whole list of drugs that also have a destructive effect on the vital activity of parasites: carbolic acid, certain types of essential oils, sulfur dioxide, creolin, xylene, etc.

The latent or incubation period of scabies is from 1 to 6 weeks, depending on the area of the lesion and the number of ticks on the skin. After that, the injured person feels a strong itch (especially at night), there are various rashes on the skin, bloody crusts are formed, itch traces are traced. Combing and damaging one area of the skin involuntarily increases the area of the lesion by spreading the infection.

As a rule, scabies in children are affected by the lateral surfaces of the fingers, hands, elbow joint, ankles, feet. At very young children the head, face, neck can be amazed. In principle, rashes can be localized to almost any part of the body of the baby. Due to frequent skin irritation in infants (sweating, diathesis), the initial stage of scabies is not recognized immediately, which complicates the further process of treatment.

To scabies in children has ceased to be an intrusive problem and has not overshadowed the life of the child and his parents, it is necessary to start treatment in time. As a rule, it involves the use of anti-scratch preparations of local purpose and hygiene requirements.

It is also effective to use a 10% emulsion of benzyl benzoate. 200 ml of benzyl benzoate requires 780 ml of boiled water and 20 g of green soap (for children dilute in half with water). Shelf life of the suspension is no more than a week in a dark place. Before use, shake thoroughly and rub into the baby's skin for 10 minutes.

Use as a treatment and ointments, which include tar or sulfur. The remedy is also rubbed into the baby's skin (preferably overnight), the next day it is necessary to wash the body with soap.

The method Demyanova involves the use of a solution of hyposulfite (30-40%) and a solution of hydrochloric acid (3-4%). First you need to rub the hyposulfite, and after 10 minutes use hydrochloric acid. But tender baby skin does not require strong rubbing, which can lead to irritation. If there is a strong itching and burning sensation from the drug, its use should be stopped and the skin restored with zinc ointment and restorative therapy.

It should be noted that all family members who were in direct contact with the child should undergo treatment, since scabies in children are very contagious and may manifest themselves somewhat later. It is also advisable to boil or blot out all personal things, toys, clothes.

In order not to have an allergic reaction from various drugs, specialists prescribe antihistaminic and hyposensitizing agents.
Doctors recommend in the treatment of an infant to wear mittens to him so that he does not have the opportunity to spread the infection all over his body. Also, the drugs used will not hit the baby in the eyes or mouth.

It is advisable in addition to the main treatment to introduce biologically active additives, with the help of which the immune defense of the child's body is strengthened. In addition, you must strictly observe the rules of personal hygiene and do not hesitate at the first suspicion of this unpleasant disease to see a doctor.
