Samara Philharmonic: a description of the modern concert and theater complex, repertoire

Samara Philharmonic Society is not only a modern building in the modernist style of the architect Y. Khramov (1988), which adorns the old part of the city, but also a culture center with a 76-year history. The oldest concert organization in 1999 became the winner of the creative competition of the newspaper "Culture" (nomination "Philharmonia of the Year").

A bit of history

On the site of the concert hall in 1907 the Kalinin merchants-industrialists erected a theater-circus "Olympus". This is a historical place for all the townspeople: it was here that F. Chaliapin performed a concert (1909), in 1917 the Soviet power was proclaimed in this building.

When the First Revolutionary Committee was headed by V. Kuibyshev, whose name the city bore before 1991, on 5.04.1940 it was decided to create a regional philharmonic society on the basis of "Olympus". During the war, the artists were left without a building due to the evacuation to the city of the Bolshoi Theater. However, actively toured, and in the 45th in Berlin, V. Zenkevich performed the favorite song of fellow countrymen "Ah, Samara-town".

The Samara Philharmonic Society and its artists took part in the historical premiere of Shostakovich's Seventh Symphony on the basis of the Opera and Ballet Theater, which stirred the entire Soviet Union. Among the legendary names are the duet of the Demidov brothers, Yuri Arnautov and Arkady Levit, pianist Alexei Trifonov. In 1988, on the site of "Olympus" a new building was built, which made it possible to equip the hall with the best sound and light equipment at that time.

One of the best concert halls belongs to the Samara Philharmonic. 975 spectators can simultaneously be accommodated in the stalls (686) and on the balcony (289). The width of the stage is 7.8 m. Another 5.9 m increases its size of the proscenium. The depth of the orchestra pit is 4 meters. Samara Authority - 15 years

The idea of setting an organ was born in the 90's. Only for the preparation of the project took a long 5 years, after which the master of the firm Rudolt von Beckerath from Hamburg began the erection of the "King of Instruments". Consulted on all matters by Harry Grodberg from the Moscow Philharmonic, a soloist with a wealth of experience and long experience. The first concert took place on February 17, 2001. This date is considered the birthday of the organ, which has 52 timbres. This palette is achieved by the presence of 3540 pipes and tubes of various lengths. Manages the "king of instruments" with four keyboards: one foot and three hand.

The Samara State Philharmonic received the graduate of the Kazan Conservatory Lyudmila Kamelina, now the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, whose virtuosic play on the organ raises enthusiastic responses from viewers and the world press.
