Musical compositions by Tchaikovsky: List

We all perfectly know the most popular works of Tchaikovsky. This is music for the ballets The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and the opera The Queen of Spades with its unique overture, and numerous plays from the Children's Album. This list can be continued indefinitely and, listening to every point of it, literally enjoy every note. However, now we offer to enjoy the most refined creations of this author. Among them will be as the most famous musical works of Tchaikovsky, and those that are not everyone's hearing. Well, let's go!

"Swan Lake"

Music for this unique dance production was written by a genius in 1877. The basis was laid by the German legend of the beautiful girl Odette, who was turned by evil charms into a white swan. As the composer himself claimed, he had an inspiration for writing the ballet after visiting one of the Alpine lakes, the beauty of which he was simply amazed. This picture includes, you can say, the most famous works of Tchaikovsky. The list begins with the "Dance of the Little Swans", and continues with Odette and Odile Odes, a long and slightly sad "Adagio" that sounds throughout the entire production. Also worth mentioning here is the most beautiful waltz, czardas, mazurka, the final "Dance of the queen of swans" and other musical motifs, which all of us seem to have from birth on hearing.

"Nutcracker"

Favorite ballet of every child, who from childhood was attached to music and art. As a rule, it is put on in theaters on New Year's Eve, because its script, the game of dancers and the props are so bright and festive that the atmosphere of magic and mystery is truly created. Within the framework of the ballet, Tchaikovsky's works are very simple to perform, but nevertheless very beautiful. The list of children always likes to start with the "Waltz of Flowers" - this play is the brightest of all and memorable. Following her on popularity - "Pas de deux of the Dragee". When the ballet was staged for the first time, Pyotr Ilyich got hold of an instrument, unthinkable for that time, for Russia-the celestial. Since then, this play is performed only on a celesta. Of course, you can not miss the "Chinese dance", "Spanish dance", trepak, "The Shepherd's Dance", "Arab Dance", march and many other beautiful motifs in the list of the brightest works that are heard in The Nutcracker.

"Sleeping Beauty"

Another brilliant ballet by Tchaikovsky, which he wrote on the basis of the fairy tale of the same name. According to the plot created by the Frenchman Charles Perrault, the composer Ferdinand Herold had already tried to stage the ballet before Peter Ilyich. However, his version was not crowned with success. Some argue that the production just did not have enough time for promotion, as in this year there was an analogue written by our fellow countryman. He won success on the stages of all European and domestic theaters with his brightness, shocking and non-standard solutions. This included the works of P. Tchaikovsky, which are not as popular as prologues and odes from "Swan Lake" or "The Nutcracker". However, if you listen to them, imbued with the whole atmosphere of the ballet, you can feel the incredible atmosphere of fairy tales and magic, which the author has invested in every sound.

"The Queen of Spades"

In 1887, Tchaikovsky received an order to write an opera based on Alexander Pushkin's poetry "The Queen of Spades." At first, the composer refused this idea, since he believed that this plot is not suitable for a big stage. However, after thinking for several years, he changed his mind and started working on this proposal. As a result, new works by Tchaikovsky appeared that were not only instrumental in nature, but were also supplemented by the main vocal part. Among the masterpieces that make up the "Queen of Spades", you can call Gramkin's aria, Herman's monologue, the romance "Dear friends", and a whole host of duets.

"Eugene Onegin"

Some events that occurred on the personal front of the composer in 1877, forced his creative nature to embody his experiences in music. So, for a very short period of time a new opera was born, which was built on the basis of the novel "Eugene Onegin". The musical works of Tchaikovsky, which sound on behalf of the main characters of this story, are heard by every music lover. This is the aria of Lensky, and the scene of Tatiana's letter, as well as Onegin himself. The opera is played by beautiful waltzes and polonaises, plays and other motifs, which most clearly reveal the essence of the whole work, which tells us about social inequalities and love.

"Children's album"

Under the author's subtitle "Twenty-Four Easy Pieces for Piano" in 1878, Pyotr Ilyich released the "Children's Album". Everyone who studied at a music school, necessarily played at least something from the pages of this collection. We will not enumerate all, but only a few. These are "Winter Morning", "Doll's Disease", "New Doll", "Neapolitan Song", "Ancient French Song", "Sweet Dream", "Russian Song", waltz, polka, mazurka, "Kamarinskaya" ... Actually Each of the above pieces is very simple and understandable both in parsing, and in the game, conveying shades. But with this simplicity, the unique beauty of sound is combined in a unique way, and every melody can be enjoyed constantly. Let us also note that in the future such composers as Grieg, Debussy, Bartok, Schumann took these very plays, written by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, as the basis for their new opuses. Works also formed the basis of the ballet, which was staged in 1999 in Yugoslavia and received many awards.

"Seasons"

Around 1875, a longtime friend and partner of Tchaikovsky Bernard invited him to write a series of works that will characterize exactly all the seasons. Without hesitation, the composer agreed to this proposal and began to work. Literally a month later, within the framework of this cycle, Tchaikovsky's first work was published. "Seasons", according to Bernard's idea, were to consist of 12 pieces, with which their author remarkably coped. Also note that the name of each work was also invented not by the composer himself. Well, let's name in order, which Tchaikovsky's works were included in this album:

  • "January. By the fireplace. "
  • "February. Maslenitsa".
  • "March. The song of the Lark. "
  • "April. Snowdrop".

  • "July. Song of a mower ".
  • "August. Harvest".
  • "September. Hunting".
  • "October. Autumn song »
  • "November. On the triple. "

"Slavic March"

Enumerating all the most vivid and famous works of Tchaikovsky, it is simply impossible to overlook this amazing march. The composer wrote it in 1876 at the request of the Russian Musical Society. The work was compiled as a sign of struggle and protest against the Ottoman yoke in the territory of Russia and other Slavic states. The very creator of this musical masterpiece for a long time called it "Serbo-Russian March". In it there were many motifs, characteristic for folk songs and dances of this people. Complemented this picture is purely Russian tunes, in particular the anthem of the empire "God Save the Tsar".

How did Tchaikovsky. Analysis of works

A significant place in the work of composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky is played by piano small plays. As a rule, they are a very accurate description of any side of life. It can be rural landscapes, certain evenings that the author remembered, or events. The most important thing is that any picture, for which the author undertook, as a result with great accuracy transmitted all its essence and corresponded to the title. It is also impossible not to notice that in all of Tchaikovsky's works, even those intended for an orchestra or chamber ensemble, a very lyrical, sentimental theme can be traced. Any of his plays or overture are filled with tenderness, lightness and a kind of sadness, that's why it's so pleasant to listen to them.
