Rostov-on-Don Airport is the most important aviation hub in the south of Russia

Rostov-on-Don airport was built in 1925. Its construction was due to quite objective reasons, since the south of Russia has always been a lively place of trade. In the "port of five seas" (the so-called Rostov-on-Don), a huge number of goods are brought every year, and merchants from all over the country came to the fairs that were regularly held here.

Description

Rostov-on-Don Airport (ROV) is the most important aviation hub in the Southern Federal District, which is the point of arrival and departure for airliners both domestic and international. Annually more than 1.7 million passengers fly away from here. Among the airline partners of the Rostov terminal are such giants as Ural Airlines, Donavia, Siberia Airlines, Orenburg Airlines and so on. The European carriers also cooperate with the administration (ROV), which represent the largest companies: Star Alliance, Oneworld, SkyTeam.

Routes

Of course, Rostov-on-Don airport is the starting point for trips to the most remote geographical points both inside and outside Russia. Today, passengers can easily get to the south from Surgut, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and other regions. And, of course, one of the most popular is the route to the Russian capital.

You can find out the exact schedule of flights in the help or on the official site. Information of the airport of Rostov-on-Don: (863) 254 - 88 - 01.

Many people prefer to fly abroad from the Rostov terminal. Today, flights are opened to Vienna, Barcelona, Prague, Istanbul and other cities.

Stages of reconstruction

Before the end of World War II, the terminal was reconstructed for a long time, since there was no stone left on it.

Only in 1977, experienced architects gave the Rostov airport a view that turned it into one of the city's main attractions.

At the same time, time does not stand still, and the existing architectural appearance of the airport is somewhat morally obsolete - it does not correspond to the spirit of the modern era. Taking this into account , the Rostov airport administration decided to modernize the transport infrastructure. The territory of the departure hall was enlarged to foreign destinations, and in 2007 the reconstruction of the arrival hall of the international communication was completed. It was also replaced with modern equipment for check-in, check-in luggage, document checks, and a waiting room equipped with TVs, a bar and buffets.

As a result of the above-mentioned transformations, Rostov-on-Don airport has become a modern competitive transport platform, which currently serves about 800 passengers per hour.

On the territory of the object with an area of more than 17,000 square meters, there are offices of air carrier offices, ticket sales offices, halls for delegations and official meetings, kiosks with souvenir and printed products, ATMs and currency exchange offices. Nearby there is a hotel for settling guests of the city, which provides a room for mother and child.

How to get there?

The airport building has a very convenient location. From the city center to the above-mentioned transport infrastructure the trolleybus №9, fixed-route taxi № 7а, 85,95 is running.

Planned works

Most recently, the Russian media began to write about the fact that in the period from September 8 to September 23 of this year the airport of Rostov-on-Don will be closed. Indeed, this is so. The administration decided to reconstruct the runway.

The cost of repairs is about 800 million rubles. Only from September 24 the airport will partially resume flights, which will be carried out at night.

Passengers should remember that while the Rostov-on-Don airport is closed, ticket sales will be suspended. Earlier scheduled flights (for which tickets have already been purchased) will be made from other cities. It is possible that this will be Sochi, Mineralnye Vody and Krasnodar. Only from October 24, 2014 Rostov airport terminal will operate as usual.
