Roll-back door, installation by yourself. Mechanism

The reclining interior door is not a new invention, but, despite its ergonomics and rational justification, such a design has not yet received proper recognition and dissemination.

Most often, the installation of sliding doors along the wall is resorted to, if necessary, to save space, or when it is not possible to install a conventional swing-out installation. Some landlords do not install sliding structures at home because of their opinion on the complexity of the installation, but this view is not true.

Materials for doors

The principle of operation for all sliding and sliding doors is the same, but the material of manufacture and the movement mechanism may be slightly different.

Actually, for the manufacture of door leaf sliding doors use the same materials and technologies as for traditional swing doors. The most common among them:

  • Combined wood materials.
  • Natural wood.
  • Artificial materials (MDF, PVC, etc.).
  • Glass doors. They are made of safety tempered glass, the thickness of which is 8-12 mm. The canvas can be transparent, fully matted, with a printed artwork. Glass doors can be supplemented with a deaf fragment. It is possible to produce them in non-standard sizes and with different opening methods.

Roll-out doors interior: mechanism

To determine the choice of the driving mechanism, it is necessary to clearly understand all the conditions for installing the future door. The place, the direction of movement and the weight of the door itself are important. For today on sale there are various mechanisms of expansion for interroom doors, and also the accessories specially adapted for such designs. In general, their arrangement is similar, they all consist of the following elements.

Guide rails

The movement of the sliding door is always carried out along the rails, otherwise the canvas would move from side to side, and the design would quickly fail. For a light door, only the upper guide rail is sufficient, and for a more massive one, the upper and lower rails are needed. The latter option is preferable, since it allows to evenly distribute the load on the rails and gives the structure additional stability. What can force to make a choice in favor of a single-rail design? Unaesthetic appearance, which gives the room threshold the lower rail. According to the driving characteristics, the double-leaf recoiling interior door outperforms the single-bearing door.

If you still decide to install the rail only from above, then it is necessary to equip the door with a guide corner or a leash at the bottom so that the web does not deviate from the correct trajectory.

Track

Usually a track is used in the form of a pipe - profiled, in a section representing a circle or a square. It is either hidden behind the cornice, or they buy a decorative, eye-pleasing option that fits into the interior, then the installation can be open. The roller can move inside the track or slide on its surface.

Roller mechanism

When selecting the rollers, be guided by the material and weight of the door, as well as the chosen system of door movement. They are divided into two main types: rollers that slide along the track, and those that are designed to suspend the door. Most often rollers, but sometimes also tracks, are equipped with stoppers to stop the shutter.

Brackets and cornice

Brackets for fastening of sliding doors happen with fastening to a wall or a ceiling. Cornice performs a purely decorative function - it closes the track from the eyes. He is selected for the overall design of the room.

Single-leaf sliding door

The simplest model is a single-leaf recoiling with a monolithic door leaf. In this design, the door simply moves along the rails to the side. There are more complex versions of the device, when the door when opening opens into a niche in the wall. This niche can be part of the door structure and is designed for installation inside the partition.

Two-leaf model and complex structures

  • Two flaps can move along separate guide rails. In this case, they are called parallel, and when closed, half the doors obscure each other partially or completely.
  • If the reclining interior door consists of three wings, or more moving partitions, then either they all move along parallel guides, or are located on the rail in pairs and open in turn, respectively.
  • A more complex design is possible, including a combination of different mechanisms. The shutters of the closed door are located in the same plane, when the doors are opened, they first move forward, and then move to the side (like doors in a tram or train).
  • Double-folding sliding interior door is often done on the principle of synchronous extension. The name speaks for itself: the flaps are located on the same rail and move simultaneously to either side or to the center at the same speed.
  • Harmony doors - folding design, a variety of sliding doors. Their folds are folded, like a children's book or a screen. At the ends of the doors, from above and below, rollers are mounted, which move along the guide rails.

Installation of sliding doors

Having studied the existing conditions and choosing the appropriate type of door mechanism, you can proceed to this stage of work, as installation. Roll-out interior doors can be mounted independently, without special efforts. This preparatory stage is very important, as for some models it may be necessary to fix the fixing parts or install a niche in the wall.

Most often for household use at home choose the option with a single-leaf sliding door, moving outside along the wall. To install it yourself, you need:

  • The very mechanism of the door movement;
  • level;
  • roulette;
  • Impact drill or perforator.

The mechanism can be purchased at any homebuilding store.

The first stage of the work is marking according to the scheme attached to the sliding door mechanism. After that, fix the brackets. Take into account: if the installation is supposed to be a gypsum wall partition, it is necessary to make a frame for the door structure, which is then fixed to the guide.

Then, according to the scheme, assemble the driving structure, install it in the frame or the doorway. Then you can hang the door. When these manipulations are completed, you can install the decorative cornice, if it is planned.

Please note that the total cost of the construction will include the price of the sliding mechanism (1500-5000 rub.) And the door leaf. There are, however, elite options worth 100 thousand.

Doors recoiling between rooms, the price of which is quite acceptable and depends on the material - this is an ideal solution for those who appreciate free space and practical solutions.
