Rainbow eucalyptus is a plant that will not leave indifferent any person who has ever seen him. The tree affects not only its size, but also the unusual coloring of the trunk, due to which the plant and received such a memorable name. People who first saw the eucalyptus, unwittingly call it a miracle tree.

Description

The stem of the plant reaches a height of 75 meters. Its diameter can be more than 230 centimeters. The bark of the young tree has a bright green color. As the age increases, the iridescent eucalyptus changes the color of the cover tissues. They can acquire shades of burgundy and red, blue and violet, yellow and green. The older the tree, the more saturated the color.

On Earth, there are not so many places where the tree is a rosewood eucalyptus . First of all, these are the tropical forests of the Hawaiian Islands and the Philippine archipelago. It is here that the plant is able to grow under natural conditions.
In South Florida in the US, the plant was artificially introduced in 1929, where it successfully took root. This led to the idea of trying to grow a rainbow eucalyptus in other regions of the planet. Today the plant can be found in Africa, Brazil, China, Cuba.

The only type of eucalyptus that has spread in the northern hemisphere, but this does not mean that the plant is not demanding the conditions for its growth and development. If in the wild nature a tree grows to a height of about 70 meters, in the areas of its artificial cultivation it can reach a little over 30 meters.

Growth conditions

The abundance of moisture and hot climate are the most necessary conditions under which the rainbow eucalyptus feels most comfortable. It is high temperatures and sufficient humidity that allow the tree to reach such impressive dimensions.
A favorable fact for growing tree plantations is that the plant is less susceptible to diseases and pests. The only serious enemy of the tree can be called termites. To protect against them, special chemical means for processing plantations have to be used.

Use of wood

The extraordinary decorativeness of the tree is a non-principal reason that made people cultivate it on plantations around the world. It turns out that the wood of eucalyptus is an excellent raw material for the production of high-quality paper, furniture, construction of small vessels.

Anxiety is caused by the fact that not only artificial eucalyptus plantations, but also natural thickets are annually cut down for these purposes. Today, the situation associated with cutting down the plantings of the rainbow eucalyptus is taken under the control of ecologists. The cultivation of new eucalyptus forests is also planned.
