Radiation safety - protection against ionizing radiation
Radiation safety is a set of measures that are directed at protecting a person, various populations and objects from the effects of ionizing rays. All actions are aimed at creating optimal conditions for the use of various radiation sources in treatment and other areas without harming people's health.
An equivalent dose is used as a parameter that indicates the severity of the negative effect when exposed to ionizing radiation . It should be noted that the norms of this indicator are specified in special legislative documents.
Radiation safety of the population involves the development of methods for assessing and predicting the effects of atomic energy. This helps to ensure normal living and working conditions for people, as well as protect the environment from ionizing rays.
This allows you to choose the optimal means of protection, create optimal working conditions, and, if necessary, establish a special sanitary-access regime.
Radiation safety fulfills one more important task - it creates an effective dosimetry monitoring system, which is carried out with the help of special instruments and calculation methods.
Its main tasks can also include:
• Reduction of the level of irradiation;
• the creation of a radiation monitoring system that allows timely detection of certain violations and eliminating them.
I must say that there is such a thing as medical radiobiology. It is a complex discipline that studies the use of ionizing radiation in medicine and includes clinical radiobiology, radiotherapy, radionuclide diagnostics, radiation hygiene. It is worth noting that medical radiology and radiation safety are closely related, since only accurate and accurate irradiation dosage allows to conduct correct diagnostics and receive a positive therapeutic effect.
