Italy, Lake Iseo: description how to get

Lake Iseo (Italy), whose photo will be presented in this article, is the smallest and beautiful in Lombardy. This place is rarely visited by tourists (guests of the country). Most often there are Italians. This area is beautiful, like any other in Italy, and you can admire it endlessly.

Geographical position

The location of the object is northern Italy. Lake Iseo is in Lombardy - a picturesque region, nestled between Brescia and Bergamo. This area is well developed, and to visit the lake and the city with the same name is considered a prestigious business. We can say that the region is fashionable in Italy.

Italy, Lake Iseo: description

A beautiful pond is in the Predalpas, between two famous and larger lakes - Garda and Como. Iseo is narrow and long, "protected" by recalcitrant mountain peaks. The area of the reservoir is 65.3 square kilometers. The maximum depth is 251 m.

A small lake, rarely visited by tourists from other countries - why did it become popular among "our" ones? The fact is that its waters are washed by the most famous in Europe and the highest inhabited island (600 m above sea level) - Monte Isola, which translates as "mountain-island". Also in the territory of Lake Iseo there are two small islands - Sao Paolo and Loreto.

Through Iseo, the Ol'o river flows, and its banks are rocky and steep. However, this is not surprising for a country like Italy. Lake Iseo fills the basin of an ancient glacier. By the way, Ol'o is the left tributary of the Po river, and the lake area (in a narrower sense, that is the part of the reservoir that passes between the hills and mountains) is called Sebino. At one end, it flows into Brescia, the other to Bergamo. In the valley was discovered a place where supposedly once there was an ancient civilization. Here excavations were carried out, and today this territory is an object protected by UNESCO.

Iseo is characterized by high coasts and homogeneous, but such impressive landscapes. On the coast there are settlements. Among them are Sarnico, Lovere, Pisogne and, of course, Iseo. All these cities are famous for their sights, in particular, medieval objects.

Why should I choose Iseo for the trip, and why are tourists from other countries seldom here?

There are many beautiful places, especially in a country like Italy. Lake Iseo worthy of visiting at least the rest, if only because there are many picturesque coasts, and in general - this is a real paradise for young people. There is a swimming pool, as well as ample opportunities for windsurfing, sailing and rowing.

We must not forget about architectural treasures, which you can see during the tour of the outskirts of Lake Iseo. In short, in this area you can admire the pleasant eyes of the landscapes painted by Mother Nature herself, and the architectural objects created by the human hand.

Why are there rarely tourists from other countries? As a rule, when a person comes to a foreign country, he tries to look at those sights that play the most important role for the whole world, or only for a certain people / state. It is also worth mentioning that few people know about the existence of Iseo. Therefore, it is not surprising that the guests of the country here practically do not exist. Yes, and swim in it will not work - the water is cold. And it happened that more often Italians come to Iseo, who want to retire with nature.

Attractions in the area

In the area where Lake Iseo (Italy) is located, there are attractions , and quite a few. The first thing tourists do is cruise around the three islands. This is the main attraction of the Pre-Alpine zone (Monte Isola, Isola Loreto and Isola San Paolo).

Monte Isola shares the mountain in half. One part - overgrown with wood, with steep slopes, and the second - more even and free from thickets. People live here. It is necessary to see this magnificence: small houses with spacious terraces, surrounded by olive trees and vineyards! At the very top is the main attraction - Madonna della Ceriola - a chapel, reminiscent of (like many other objects in the area) period of the Middle Ages. Noteworthy and villages with villas - one more beautiful than the other. For example, in Sinchignano there is a church of St. Michael of 1648, and next to it is the castle of Aldofredi. In Karzano it is worth spending time exploring the church of St. John the Baptist, and in Massa - the temple of the Saints Rocco and Pantaleone.

On the island of Loreto are the ruins of the town of Iseo, abandoned in the 16th century, and here also were found the ruins of an ancient fortress with two towers and a chapel. In general, this is a very picturesque island.

Italy, Lake Iseo - how to get there?

The easiest way to fly to the city of Bergamo (by plane), then take the bus at the bus station opposite the railway and drive to the city of Lovere, in the north of Iseo. You can also reach the lake by train from cities such as Milan and Brescia. If there is a car, you need to follow the A4 route from Milan in the north-west direction.

Our compatriots about Iseo

How beautiful it is for Italy! Lake Iseo, in the vicinity of which some Russians have visited, is described as a beautiful place where you can have a good rest. There is nothing supernatural, no unique atmosphere and nature, but what is, deserves attention. At least, so write in their blogs those who happened to visit this region. If you need a quiet rest, where there is only nature, Iseo is ideal for implementing such a plan.
