Propaganda is what? Why is it used?

So you often think over the information that gets into the brain from all available sources? Ask: "Why?" So information is the strongest weapon of our time! Think about how you come to this or that decision. To take it, you need facts that grow into beliefs, which, of course, everyone has. But did you create them yourself, or did propaganda work? This is an important question. From the answer to it depends, in whose ultimate interests the decision is made. And everything begins with the presentation of information about the facts, framed in the right way.

Is there propaganda?

It only seems that today any educated person has the opportunity to independently understand almost any topic. You can read the articles, listen to the experts, dig up the original sources. All the received information to rethink, relying on life experience, and everything will be in order, we'll figure it out! In this chain there is an error, even a few. It does not take into account the ways of presenting the facts and intentions of those who are engaged in this business. After all, any person narrates the story about events not only with his impressions, but also with life experience. This happens naturally. You first tried something exotic. Durian, for example. But you got stale, and a little lying. What do you say to friends? Durian - excellent muck. If they did not try the fruit, they would believe their beloved one. But will this be true? And what will the relative think about you, who will have the opportunity to taste the fresh fruit? Question.

Definition

Propaganda is suggestion, the spread of views or ideas for a specific purpose. There is a term from the Latin word propagare. To use it in the conventional sense became the prelates of the Vatican in the eighteenth century. They tried to inspire people with respect and trust in faith. Then, in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, this information technology was adopted by revolutionaries of the socialist and communist type. In their impact on the population agitation and propaganda were used. It was a kind of informational "double blow". The agitation was conducted with the aim of explaining their views, overconfidence of opponents. And propaganda used slogans, short statements that did not cause people to analyze them, critically comprehend. The idea, by the way, is widely in demand in our time. The range of its application has grown to enormous proportions.

Political propaganda

What is most important for parties and movements? That's right, the number of supporters. The more of them, the more powerful the political force. For the "recruitment" of followers and adherents, parties of different persuasions use a variety of methods. One of the key places among them is political propaganda. It is a way to show your views and intentions in the most favorable light. To prepare a political propaganda message is a rather laborious matter. Special investigations are carried out for this purpose. You may have listened to a well-known satirist criticizing the slogans of the Soviet period? For example, "Pioneer - take care of the Motherland, your mother!" This message has a fairly transparent and patriotic meaning.

Only it is not sharpened, as it is cut down with an ax. This is now not allowed. The political struggle in the modern world has become acute, tense. Battles are fought for the mind of each person. Therefore, propaganda became thinner. Any message, the idea is viewed from different sides. Explore how it relates to the dreams and beliefs of various strata and groups of the population, how representatives of various faiths or cultural movements will react to it. Propaganda can affect both small groups and the whole of humanity.

Where else is propaganda used

In today's world, not only politicians need loyal adherents. They are well ahead of large corporations and manufacturers. In their work they also use propaganda. To increase sales it is necessary to inspire potential buyers with the idea that their goods are the best (promising, eco-friendly and so on). Simple advertising here is clearly not enough. The competition in the market is great. So the producers use short ideas and statements, entering through frequent repetition directly into the subconscious. They do not cause rejection or criticism, they are perceived as given, the natural course of things. Far behind the examples do not have to go. You can turn on the TV and listen to several ads. Ideal propaganda is advertising. It is sharp, calibrated, light and pleasant.

Is not propaganda harmful to a person?

Everything depends on the purpose of applying information dissemination methods. If the one who works with this, wants to manipulate people, it is better to shy away from such a "source" as, for example, advertising. But this very effective method can be used for other purposes. He really can be called unbeatable in terms of productivity. Only while there are so many people who want to spend money on the creation of propaganda materials, which obviously do not bring profit. Such a source can be public organizations, which is extremely rare. Philanthropists became extinct in the last century. Or they can sometimes become a state caring for its citizens. An example of this is legal propaganda. These are the methods of reporting to citizens, by and large, their legal rights and freedoms.
