The military title of Putin

The Russian president is an officer. It is quite natural, a significant part of his life passed in the service. Everyone knows that it was held by Vladimir Vladimirovich in the State Security Committee of the USSR, an organization that was rightly considered a bulwark of Soviet power, for which some respected her, others were afraid. It was not easy for a KGB officer to become a candidate, he passed a multilevel check on loyalty, honesty, impeccability of behavior and even on undesirable kinship. The presidency is usually combined with another position - Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This means that at the moment he is subordinated to all the most senior generals. In Stalin's, and also Brezhnev's times, the matter of subordination was solved simply. The head of state and party became in one case the generalissimo, in the other - the marshal. Today, not everyone knows what title Putin has. And it, by state standards, is quite low.

Childhood of the Future President

The Russian leader was born in 1952. His family was ordinary: his father Vladimir Spiridonovich - a worker, a master who fought and was wounded at the front. When his son was born, he was 41 years old. Mother, Maria Ivanovna, also a factory worker, her husband's peer, a blockade. So the child was late, coveted and at that time the only one (the two older brothers died in the thirties). According to family tradition, Putin's grandfather, Spiridon Ivanovich, was a famous cook who cooked delicious dishes for the first Soviet leaders (Lenin, then Stalin), but this did not affect the prosperity of the family that lived in the ordinary Petersburg communal.

By the boy Volodya was a hooligan and prone to all sorts of leprosy. He went to school at the age of eight, he did not study very well (at least in elementary grades). But from 11 years I was carried away by sports wrestling, sambo and judo. And he dreamed of becoming a scout since childhood.

First rank - lieutenant

Entering the law faculty of the University of Leningrad is not so simple, especially with poor grades in the school certificate. So it was in 1970, and now too. The ill-wishers of the Russian president hint at the supposedly existing sports patronage, or, perhaps, at that time cooperation with the KGB (while freelance). Assumptions this is not confirmed by anything, such versions are believed by someone, and some are not. The student was really engaged in sports (then it was free for all comers) in the society "Trud" and did his best in this field. On the study, however, also did not forget. The military department at Leningrad State University was, all the young people who were fit for health service were studying there. In 1975, Vladimir received a diploma with a military ticket, which stated: "Lieutenant of Justice." This was the first military title of Putin.

Study and next rank

Wishes of the chartered lawyer were taken into account in the distribution: he was sent to work in the Leningrad regional department of state security. Putin worked in the KGB secretariat for the first time as a civilian, without receiving an officer's salary. Specific knowledge needed counterintelligence, Vladimir Vladimirovich received on the six-month special courses of the junior operational staff at the Moscow Higher School of the KGB, which was sent in February 1976.

Service did not interfere with success in judo. Until 1976, Putin has repeatedly become the champion of the city.

Only two years later (in 1977) he passed his attestation and enlistment to a post. He became a senior lieutenant of justice (the second title of Putin), an operative of the KGB for the Leningrad region, in which capacity he served until January 1978.

Captain, Major

The ranks in the KGB were appropriately tight. It was not enough just to serve the appointed time, the position occupied, as well as various other circumstances, including marital status and characteristics, was important. Most of the committee operatives retired by the majors. This military title of Putin overtook at the age of thirty. Not such a bad indicator.

After participating in the provision of law and order at the Moscow Olympics, Vladimir Vladimirovich received the following star on the epaulettes - in 1980 he became a captain. The next military rank of Putin - major - was appropriated to him in 1983. The public knows little about these important events in the life of each officer. Again, ill-wishers insist that Putin's official growth was slow, he did not show special abilities. On the other hand, careerist zeal probably was not typical for the future Russian president, and this just describes him positively. In Afghanistan it was possible to get a new rank much quicker. Putin, however, apparently did not take advantage of this prospect. If they had sent, then, probably, would have gone, but voluntarily did not.

Germany and the return

German V. Putin studied at the Moscow Institute of the KGB of the USSR. Andropov, along with other "espionage" sciences in 1984-1985. Then there was a business trip to the Dresden KGB station. There, the major was engaged in providing the work of illegal scouts sent from East Germany to the West. Presumably, in 1987, he was given a regular rank by service. Putin was appointed assistant chief of department. For some, such a position would seem insignificant, but only not those who are at least familiar with the principles of the work of Soviet intelligence.

After the reunification of Germany, the Dresden department was abolished, the lieutenant colonel returned to Leningrad, after working abroad for more than four years. The next title of Putin was also actually served on time and confirmed by the colonel's position of the head of one of the counter-intelligence units. He worked "under the roof", formally counting as an assistant to the rector of the Leningrad State University.

Not even a general ...

So the colonel was Vladimir Putin. This rank was not obtained in bloody battles, although during the service (especially during the collapse of the socialist system and the unification of Germany), everything happened. And his awards are sparse: ordinary jubilee medals (three of them) and one more from the government of the GDR. From this fact, it is also possible to draw different conclusions: both about the failure of the officer and even his negligence, and about personal modesty and unwillingness to serve a regime that never brought the Soviet people the desired prosperity. Today it is not so important what kind of rank Putin has, the successes of his presidency matter. Judging by the ratings, they are very good.
