Profiled sheeting C8 and C20 - what's the difference? Description, characteristics, size

Profiled sheeting is increasingly gaining ground in the construction and improvement of homes and territories. First we saw the red and green fences from this material. They seemed to be the limit of perfection and evoked the envy of neighbors. Now the range expands and replenishes with original color solutions. More and more people use corrugated board. But how to choose the right type, so as not to lose quality and not overpay? For example, corrugated board C8 and C20. What is the difference between them?

Purpose of corrugated board

These are metal sheets that have a waveform or a trapezoid on the cut. They are valued for durability, relative cheapness, nice appearance. Are used as facing material. They are mainly used for:

  • Roofing;
  • Wall coverings;
  • Fences.

The sheet of corrugated board reflects well the noise. It is easy to install and easy to care for. That is, special care for products made of such material is not necessary. The main thing is to protect against strong physical exertion, strikes. They can damage the relief of the sheet, which will lead to a decrease in the decorative properties of the structure.

Is any sheet of corrugated board suitable for these tasks? No, for each type of buildings you need a material with certain qualities.

It:

  • Wave height;
  • Form of profiling (wavy or trapezoidal);
  • Sheet thickness;
  • Coating material.

Profiled sheeting can be of several types, which have their names. This is H, HC, MP, C, which includes corrugated sheets C8 and C20. What is the difference between them? Marking depends on the thickness of the sheet and the height of the "wave" formed after stamping (which is often a trapezoid or has a more false shape, but the name is preserved). The sheet marked C is the weakest, denoted by the letter H - more powerful.

But one type of profiled C8 and C20. What is the difference between them? They have different wave heights.

It is very easy to learn this value. The height of the wave is indicated in the title by the number at the end. The smaller this value, the larger the area will have the finished corrugated sheet in relation to the original one. But at the same time, the level of external resistance is lower. So, for the construction of fences used sheets with a lower profile than for the roof. For a full roof, you need a corrugated board with a wave height of 35 mm (sheet NS-35). From the corrugated board it is possible to create even bearing floors. But this requires a sheet from H-57 to H-75.

The thickness of the sheet is from 0.4 mm to 1.6 mm. Naturally, to distinguish it by eye or even measure it at home is difficult. This is sometimes used by sellers. They sell a cheaper sheet 0.4 mm thick at the cost of one that is a few tenths of a millimeter thicker. At first glance, the difference is small. But when you buy a large number of sheets increases the total purchase size, and, therefore, the difference in price.

Coating of corrugated board

Profiled sheeting can be galvanized or have a polymer coating. Galvanized are often used to protect building sites. Polymer coating can be applied to one side. Then the other will be covered with a gray primer. The colors of the polymer coating can be either monophonic (red, green) or multi-colored. Now more and more popular profiled, imitating natural materials: stone, wood and brick. The constructions from such sheets look much richer and more attractive. Cover the sheets with polyester, frosted polyester or Granite Claudia coating (roofing, creating a shingles effect). More and more often used bilateral, painted in the same color on both sides. It is green and brown profiled. The advantage of such structures is a natural appearance.

There are no differences between sheets with different waves. The same color can have profiled C8 and C20. What is the difference between them, except the height of the wave?

Both are made by the method of cold rolling on special machines of galvanized steel. Do not rust, well withstand any climatic changes.

The length of one sheet can be from half a meter to 12 meters. But it must be a multiple of 5 cm.

Profiled sheeting C8

Its dimensions may be different, but the height of the wave is 8 cm. The sheet of corrugated board S8 is an easy and durable facing material. Its area is slightly larger than at other altitudes. If the overall width of the sheet is 1200 mm, then the useful width will be 1150 mm.

Therefore, it is very popular. It is used for the construction of partitions, ceilings. They can drape the ceiling and walls. Suitable for fencing.

Metal corrugated board C8 is very popular among developers and owners of private buildings because of the low price and decent quality.

When calculating the required number of sheets, it is taken into account that the working length will be slightly less due to overlapping with the next sheet. The wave has a trapezoidal shape.

Profiled sheeting C20

The height of the wave is almost 2 times greater than that of C8. And, hence, it is more powerful, but has a smaller area in relation to the source sheet. If the overall width is 1150 mm, then only 1100 mm will be useful. It is used for more stable and durable structures, because it is more resistant to external influences than C8. Well suited for building a fence. Can be used to cover roofs. It is considered a universal proflist.

Profiling is also done in the form of trapezoids, but the upper bases of the outer and outer parts are different.

The profiled sheet MP 20 has an undulating profile at a wave height of 20 mm.

Price

The cost is different with corrugated board. Price per sheet depends on the thickness of the sheet, the height of the wave, the quality of the coating. So, for a sheet of C8 with a working width of 1150 mm from galvanized steel is from 175 to 290 rubles. At sheet thickness from 0,4 to 0,7 mm. If the coating is polyester, the price will be in the range from 208 to 365 rubles. 324 rubles. Will cost a bilateral profiled flooring.

Price per sheet C20 with a full width of 1150 mm of galvanized steel will cost from 181 to 302 rubles. Sheet with a polyester coating has a price from 220 to 405 rubles. Two-sided costs 333 rubles.

Requirements for sheet geometry

A sheet with an absolutely flat surface is difficult to obtain. The presence of some abrasions and risks, which do not destroy the coating, are allowed. The wave height can not deviate from the norm by more than 2 mm. For the width, this value is 8 mm, for a length of 10 mm.

The waviness of flat areas should be no more than 1.5 mm, on locks 3 mm.

As we see, there is no particular difference in price between the C8 and C20 profilists. Therefore, when choosing the type of corrugated board, first of all, the conditions in which it will be used must be taken into account.
