Prefixes in the Russian language and their meaning

The definition of the prefix in the Russian language is as follows: a significant part of the word, which can both change and supplement the meaning of the word. This definition, although brief, but extremely accurate: the prefix in Russian and the truth is very, very significant, and it is subject to a complete change in the meaning of the word. Compare: understand pr ee vratno (which means wrong) and pr and goalkeeper (standing at the gate).

There is an opinion that the poorer and simpler the language, the more primitive and weaker the mind of the people who own it. If you believe this opinion, then we can conclude that the Russian people - one of the most developed nations of the world. That there are only morphemes in our language! It's hard to count all consoles in Russian, not what to remember. And from foreign languages to Russian all come and come new prefixes, with its own meaning.

To remember the correct spelling of the prefix in Russian is quite simple, at least if we talk about the original Russian prefixes. They are divided into three groups. The first group is prefixes, the writing of which does not change under any conditions. Among them, the prefix c-. It should be remembered, in words beginning with the letters "c" and "з", the prefix can only be the letter "c", and "з" enters the root of the word.

The second group consists of consoles with changing consonants: -raz--ras. About this group, remember the following: the letter "z" (-raz) is written before voiced consonants (as in the word "run") and vowels (as in the word "dressed up"), the letter "c" (-ras) is written before the deaf consonants (dawn).

The same group includes prefixes with a changing vowel: -s-ras-ros. To know the writing of these consoles, you need to remember only one rule: the letter "o" is written under stress (as in the word "rally"), and the letter "a" is written without emphasis (as in the word "sawed").

The third group is prefixes and prefixes. The rules for writing them are also very simple. The prefix is prefixed, if the meaning is "very", or if it can be replaced with a prefix (as in the words "excellent", "abort"). The prefix will be attached if it is necessary to indicate the incompleteness of the action (to rise), approaching something (running), attaching (sewing), proximity to something (coastal).

Somewhat more difficult is the use of a foreign prefix in the Russian language, since one can not be guided by any general rules, but it is necessary to memorize the spelling and meaning of each prefix. Here we will give a few examples of the most frequently used foreign prefixes.

Thus, a prefix of Latin origin a- indicates the absence of a sign (immorality, amenorrhea).

The prefix of Latin origin de-denotes the reverse action, removal, termination (defecation).

Prefixes hypo-and hyper-mean, respectively, a decrease and an overestimate of the norm (hypotension, hyperactivity).

Greek prefixes anti- and archaic-designate, respectively, the opposite and super-degree (antisanitary, archbishop).

The French des-des - indicates the removal or absence of something (disinfection).

The Latin prefix denotes the reverse process (regeneration).

The Latin prefixes ultra- and ex- denote, respectively, the extreme, limiting quality (ultrasound) and movement from within or something former (export, ex-spouse).

In addition to the role of consoles, the story of the prefix demon is also interesting. For certain it is known that initially such a prefix was not in Russian, the absence of something meant the prefix "without". However, after 1917, the Communists who came to power decided to replace the last letter. What caused this change - the cacophony of many words (such as dishonesty, ingloriousness) or a simple mockery of the fears of believers (after all, a devil is called a devil) - is unknown.

Anyway, since that time, the prefix is used only in words, in which, after the prefix, there is a vowel or a voiced consonant letter. And the words with the prefix are still, and to this day, ridiculed by many people: a demon, a devil, an honest, a heartless ...
