Is it permissible in the word "cottage cheese" to emphasize the first syllable

The contract, calls, masterly, the barman, cottage cheese - how correctly to put an accent? Errors in this part of linguistic science are particularly common. This is not surprising - there are no uniform rules for placing stresses in the Russian language, so you need to learn and remember.

The correct stress in the word "cottage cheese"

The correct linguists call the sound selection on the last syllable: creator. This norm is fixed in dictionaries. But almost every second Russian-speaking person is mistaken in the pronunciation of this word, therefore linguists do not exclude the possibility that the situation will change: tvorog - stress in the word on the first syllable, it may unambiguously go back to normal.

What will the speech tell us about?

Why do we care about speaking correctly? Of course, because literate speech is a visiting card of a cultured and educated person. Our language is so expressive that it depends on whether we correctly put stresses in words or not correctly, our status, opinions about us of other people and the general color of our life depends. Imagine that you heard such a monologue: "In the last quarter of the quarter I was pre-empted, and we had funds." We put on scarfs, went, bought cakes, put it on the kitchen table. I grabbed the pieces and put them in my mouth. I ate so much. " Even without seeing that person, who says this, you can easily compose his social portrait, right?

Dictionary for help

Since there are no single rules for stating the stress in Russian speech, our orthoepic dictionary becomes our assistant. Orthoepy is the science of the pronunciation norm, the word came to us from the Greek language and is literally translated as "right speech". "Orthoepic Dictionary" contains the literary norm of pronunciation of words, and consequently, of accents in it.

How many dictionaries, so many opinions?

The acoustic component of this lexeme is interpreted differently by different dictionaries. In the word "cottage cheese" the accent on the last syllable is declared the norm, but an additional one is also fixed - on the first syllable - in the "Orphoepic Dictionary" edited by R. I. Avanesov, reissued for the last time in 1972. In the dictionary "Russian verbal accent" edited by M. V. Zarva, published in 2001, only one literary norm is fixed - TvorOg: emphasis on the last syllable. In the "Orphoepic Dictionary of the Russian Language" edited by IL Reznichenko in 2003, both methods of pronunciation are written down, with emphasis on the first and second syllables. In the "Dictionary of the Difficulties of the Russian Language" by E. E. Rosenthal and M. A. Telenkova, only one way of pronouncing a word is mentioned as a norm - with an emphasis on the last syllable: creator.

The stress in this word, fixed in spelling and explanatory dictionaries, which also always contain information about the statement of stresses, also differs among different authors. All this speaks only of the fact that the language is constantly developing and changing. An interesting study on this topic is, for example, in the "Dictionary of the Language of Pushkin", published in 2000. There you can get acquainted with obsolete and out-of-use words, lost accents and meanings of modern words. For example, here is how the accents in the words "civil, laid, destiny" were put in the old days. Or here is how some pretexts were connected with words: "between what" instead of the modern "between what", or "to meet someone," instead of being used "to meet someone."

Features of the Russian stress

Stress is a phonetic selection in a word of a certain syllable. We do this by amplifying the audio signal in any part of the word. In Russian, stress is always placed on the vowel phonemes in the word. The syllable to which it falls is called a shock. The sound under stress is always longer than the unstressed, and the voice on the shock sound rises. Acceleration can fall in any part of the word, moreover, in different grammatical forms (with conjugation and declination of words) it can move from one syllable to another. Take, for example, the word "curd" that interests us. Acceleration, as we found out, should be put on the syllable -pOg. But this is in the nominative and accusative cases. In the genitive, the stress will already be on the syllable -v, and so on.

Some difficult cases

And now consider a few words in which people very often make phonetic errors. The leaders of the wrong pronunciation are the words of the carpenter (the right one is the table), the wholesale one (for example - the wholesale one), calls (pr - ringing), scarves (pr), bows (pr banty), contract (normal - dong), To ease (the norm - to relieve), beets (norm - liquor), accepted (norm - accepted), shoe (normal - tufla). Here we will include the correct stress in Anglicism: barmen.

So, we were convinced that it is necessary to speak correctly, and for this we should not be lazy to look into dictionaries, and also that the mobile word "cottage cheese" does not get along with the stress fixed on the last syllable and seeks to legitimize another norm - stress On the first syllable. However, this process is not completed yet, and therefore it is necessary to pronounce this word as most dictionaries require - with the last stressed syllable.
