Polymer-sand hatch: description, types and technical characteristics

During the construction of any building, first of all engineering communications are laid, access to which is formalized in the form of special wells. They allow masters to easily get to the equipment for its timely maintenance and elimination of accidents. Usually such exits were closed with cast-iron covers, but lately a polymer-sand hatch has been increasingly used for these purposes. Let's look at what this product represents and what are its main characteristics.

Short description

The technology of production of polymer hatches is based on the method of casting and hot pressing of all components of the material (sand, thermoplastic polymers and dyes). This method of production makes it possible to obtain a product that has the highest performance characteristics and has a presentable appearance.

Similar products are used by services of city water utilities, heating systems and road enterprises. In large-scale and private construction for sanitation facilities, a sand-polymer hatch is also used. GOST 3634-99 and the sanitary-ecological norms, on which the product is manufactured, establish clear sizes and basic qualities of the finished product. For this reason, the buyer does not have difficulties with replacing the covers, and the product itself is completely safe for the environment.

Main advantages and disadvantages of products

Polymer-sand hatch is endowed with a number of positive qualities that attract the consumer. They include:

  • Low cost;
  • Long service life (up to 50 years);
  • Ability to withstand heavy weight;
  • Ease of transportation of the device;
  • Resistance to ultraviolet rays;
  • Ease of installation (without the use of special equipment);
  • Ecological compatibility;
  • Resistance to corrosion;
  • Resistance to sudden changes in temperature;
  • Light weight;
  • Rich choice of colors.

If we talk about the shortcomings with which this product is endowed, then it should be noted that some varieties of such covers are designed for small loads. This circumstance does not allow them to operate on roads where heavy vehicles are traveling. However, the problem is easily solved by careful selection of hatches, taking into account the environment of their use.

Varieties of polymer hatches

So, the main criterion for choosing this device is the load that a polymer-sand hatch can withstand. Weight design is the main indicator of this ability: the more it is, the stronger the product. By this parameter hatches are divided into 5 classes:

  • Type "L" (garden variety);
  • Type "L" (light);
  • Type "C" (medium);
  • Type "T" (heavy);
  • Type "TM" (heavy, main line).

Hatchways marked "L" (garden) have a light weight (up to 25 kg) and are able to withstand loads of not more than 1500 kg. Most often they are installed on sidewalks and lawns.

Products "L" (light) weigh about 45 kg and withstand loads of 3000 kg. They are designed for installation in car parks, in pedestrian and green areas.

The hatch (polymer-sand) "C" class is able to withstand loads of medium gravity (up to 7500 kg), while its weight is 52 kg. The scope of this design is urban parks, car parks, sidewalks.

Heavy products (group "T") can already be mounted on roads where moderate traffic is observed. Their weight is 57 kg, and the maximum permissible load is 15,000 kg.

Massive trunk hatches can withstand up to 25,000 kg of load, so they can be used on any motorways. The weight of such a lid is 60 kg.

In addition to the difference in load, polymer hatches can differ in shape. Often, round lids are produced (this is due to the fact that the pit of the underground well is usually round), however, the manufacture of square products is also possible (on order).

Dimensions

Another difference between products of different groups is the size, which can have a polymer-sand hatch. The dimensions of the covers also depend on the degree of their weight. Light garden lids have a diameter of 600 mm and a height of 25 mm, while the body itself is slightly larger (720x60 mm).

The group of light hatches is characterized by the size 690х55 mm on the cover and 750х90 mm on the body. Products that withstand medium loads, have dimensions of 690x50 mm (on the cover) and 750x100 mm (on the body). The size of the heaviest species is 700x70 mm. Dimensions of the body of reinforced structures - 800x110 mm.

Installation

The installation of different types of polymer products also has its own characteristics. Thus, the polymer-sand hatch of light type is mounted to a depth of 25-45 mm, and the construction of medium gravity - by 60 mm. The heaviest hatches deepen the deepest - they are mounted 85 mm below ground level.

The process of installing a polymer structure begins with the installation of the ring (on the concrete floor). It is poured with a grout and left to dry completely. Next, the master installs the hatch cover itself.

Around the well (with a slight bias) is arranged blind area. It is needed to prevent moisture from entering the collector. The width of the blind area usually ranges from 1 to 1.5 meters. Significantly facilitate the process of installing the hatch can be by purchasing a product with special grooves for fasteners.
