Polina Barskova: biography and creativity

Today we will tell you who Polina Barskova is. Her biography will be examined in detail later. It's about the Russian prose writer and poet. Our heroine was born in Leningrad, in 1976, on February 4. Currently he lives in the USA. He is a laureate of several literary prizes, including the name of Andrei Bely. She was awarded the first book of prose entitled "Live Voices".

Biography

Polina Barskova studied at the Department of Classical Philology at St. Petersburg University. She graduated from this university. Since 1998, she studied in the US, attended the University of California (Berkeley). Her scientific work concerns Russian prose of the thirties (Egunov, Vaginov). He is a teacher of Russian literature in Amherst at Hampshire College.

Rhyme

The main literary form in which Polina Barskova showed herself is poetry. She is a rare example of the poet-child prodigy. At the same time, after growing up, she was not lost in the literary world. Valery Shubinsky notes that the youthful voice of our heroine was distorted by interference in the form of coquetry, deliberate inorganic rudeness or a figured mess. This did not allow us to hear the poetess. At the same time, an early, not completely deserved, success did not promote perfection in relation to itself. Her voice was strong from nature and, reaching maturity, she broke through various extraneous noises. She has a sensual soprano, exciting, yet capable of calmness.

Debut

Polina Barskova participated in the literary association, led by Vyacheslav Leikin. There she was influenced by Vsevolod Zelchenko, a senior comrade. The first book of our heroine was published in 1991. At the same time she became a laureate at the All-Union Festival of Young Poets. Later, Polina Barskova was awarded the first place in the literary contest titled "Tenenta", as well as the "Moscow-transit" prize. In the early works of our heroine felt the influence of some late romantics, in particular French. Among them are Rimbaud, Lautremone, Baudelaire.

Evaluation

Dmitry Kuzmin called her poetry very sensual. It has a romantic warehouse. The works combine gloomy color and strong emotional tension. These works are not too similar to the more restrained Petersburg art of the last decades. In some ways, one can even see the intimacy of our heroine with the early creativity of Yevgeny Rein, who is her biological father and Russian poet. Also, it can be compared with a circle of lesser-known authors who created at the turn of the sixties and seventies of the last century. Among them are Ozhiganov and Mironov. They made an attempt to create something similar to the French "damned poets" on Russian soil. These authors were omitted in Russia because of socio-political problems, which were then directed at poetry, as well as other forms of art. In 2000, our heroine tried to give a description of his work. She noted that in her works everyone sees something of her own: modern, Peter, arrogance, chasing, scandal, vulgarity, sentimentality, tabloidism, negligence, shamelessness, emptiness. Judgments were expressed about the influence of Joseph Brodsky's work on our heroine. The poet herself noted that he is neither a teacher nor an idol for her. He is a language for her. According to the poetess, it was this perception that Joseph Brodsky wanted to achieve. Similar relationships can be with the Bible, or, in the case of ancient schoolchildren, with the great Homer. Brodsky spoke in the language of Russian poetry. In 2000, Danila Davydov noted that our heroine abandoned the authoritarian intonation. By 2006, her position had changed significantly. As she said, the usual literature does not fit the new literature, and the system in which the presence of the poetic giant was a weapon, consolation, justification, a compass, an umbrella, was gone. At present, our heroine is working on the work "St. Petersburg in the blockade." Fragments of the future book were published in Russian periodicals. In particular, the "New Literary Review", "The Inviolable Stock".
