Makar Osipovich Random

Review of the work of Nekrasov: "Makar Osipovich Random."

The story "Makar Osipovich Random", Nikolai Nekrasov, was first published in 1840, in the pages of the magazine "Pantheon of Russian and All European Theaters". This was the first prose work written by the writer, after the unsuccessful debut of the collection of poems "Dreams and Sounds". At that time, Nekrasov did not know what to write about, and therefore the editor-in-chief of the journal FA Koni advised him to try his hand at prose, to write about some case from his life. Under the pseudonym "N. Perepelsky "the author releases his first story, about the real story of one official. Nekrasov's romantic approach was fully appreciated by such a literary critic and publicist as VG Belinsky, positively responding about his beginning work, only the emerging talent.

The work begins with a description of the court ball, the beauty that reigned inside the rich nobleman's estate, the diversity of the people, the pleasant and dizzying dances that everyone was waiting for, languishing in the corner of solitude, waiting for the moment when the orchestra starts to play, and they can show their skills and Graceful, smooth movements; Flashing an extraordinary talent in front of the aristocracy and representatives of the nobility. According to the author, at such events there is a random people, consisting of people who have achieved success, only because of ties and "their report cards about ranks, not breeds." Nekrasov, thereby showing the mental and mental emptiness, in the naive, pure and pampered souls of the higher class class, able only to entertain and rest from stormy and passionate nights. According to their own views, they are the foundation of the Russian Empire, the unbreakable monolith on which the whole country rests. But in fact, they are not able to competently manage state affairs, dispose of finances, understand and see those acute and unsolvable problems at that time. Indifference, that's what does not allow them to create a truly magnificent country. Everyone is only interested in their own well-being, but they do not care about others.

As it seems to me, the story is devoid of really good, positive characters. At first they appear very noble persons, but having removed the mask, you immediately see their true face. Zorin is educated, intelligent, educated, in one word an intellectual. But money, power, these vices ruin all, Zorin is no exception, he is just as weak and weak-willed, surrenders without any struggle, the world of crossroads and drunkenness, greed and pretense engulfs him. Of course, it was Father Lelenka who pushed him on this loathsome path, because he loves money more than anything in the world, and not his daughter, only worries about the material component of marriage; What kind of benefit it will be for him, what their friends and relatives will think, so he can not allow a poor groom into his family, even if there are some exalted feelings between the couple, for love is not the most important thing in life. However, Zorin does not dare to fail in this unequal struggle, so he is ready to cut any valuable road to the height of Olympus. The second, but no less important, hero is Makar Osipovich Random, with a very interesting biography. Like almost all noblemen, he began his career and career in the rank and file of his Majesty the Emperor of Russia; Studied for "copper money", although he had outstanding abilities. He promised the career of a great commander or aide to the king, but all his living, energetic intellect uses in vile accomplishments. So, for example, after thinking everything over from beginning to end, he married a rich aristocrat who was at that time almost at death. The insidious design was a success: she died, he inherited all possessions and money. And later to forty years, having arranged all his affairs, once again married, but already on a young girl. His new wife is also not one of the best representatives of the weaker sex; A very ambiguous personality, inclined to lie and with great skill misleads his husband, manipulates him, and always comes out of the mud with clean, slender legs.

In the product there is a clash not only of individual objects, but of entire class classes. The main conflict unfolds between Zorin and Random, on the ground of Makar Osipovich's self-love. It is because of this resentment, even if it's petty, that Random does not want to take him to the service, as Zorin did not plead. He could make a good gesture in favor of the offender, having forgiven him a daring trick and give him free space, but his callousness, insensitivity, anger restricted his mind like the strongest metal chains. Not proven among the rich scum, Zorin parted with Lelenka, of course, not of his own free will, that's what the pride and inaccessibility of Makar Osipovich can bring to. The peculiarity of the story lies in an interesting, at times unpredictable plot, where the author mirrors the fates of the main characters. So, Zorin repeats the life of Casual both from the career point of view and from the moral point of view: he marries the daughter of the Count, who helps him to climb the top of the official activity, which was recently impregnable, with sharp and steep peaks; Merges into the work collective, becomes more vicious, disgusting, selfish, nasty person. In the meantime, Makar Osipovich was dismissed from service, impoverished, and for the sake of his past position he performs all sorts of petty, humiliating assignments for Zorin, apologizes for the deeds he committed, makes him complement, flatterers, and loses his sense of dignity. The current Zorin is no better than the former Makar Osipovich. Again, the final scene between these irreconcilable enemies in the soul is repeated, but this time the roles change, like the dishes on the table, and Zorin acts as the main evil genius, rejecting the candidacy in the person of Random for free space in the office. Makar Osipovich Random understands his past mistake and leaves without apologies and pleas. However, fate is supportive of him, in the future he gives him a beautiful baby, similar to his father.

Bad deeds always remain bad, no matter even for what purpose they were perfect. A person should be able to find an approach to everyone, achieve success, translate dreams into reality in a noble, sinless way. The work of Nekrasov perfectly reflects the way of life and character of the Petersburg wealthy and impoverished nobility. From this begins the eternal path of fame of the writer's genius works.
