"Pokrovsky Gates": actors and roles, the history of the painting

The film "Pokrovsky Gates", the actors and roles of which created an unusual atmosphere inside the painting, in 2012, celebrated its thirtieth anniversary. How was one of the most beloved Soviet films created and how were actors selected for the project?

The film "Pokrovsky Gates" (1982): the plot

Moscow is a city in which the events of the film "The Intercession Gate" unfold. Actors and roles performed by them, draw in front of the spectator the everyday life of the communal life of the 50s.

In one communal house, several amusing characters are huddled together. In one room is a pretty student Kostik with his aunt. In another - variety artist Velyurov. In the third - a funny trinity, which deserves special attention.

Margarita Pavlovna and her former husband, the writer Lev Evgenievich, have long been divorced. Margarita is going to marry for the second time, but she has not yet received her own living space with her fiancé. Therefore, for some time all participants of this triangle are forced to live under the same roof by one family. But it's not even in the housing issue - it's just that Margarita is used to taking care of her ex-husband in all things and even thinking that he can not do it without her.

In turn, Lev Evgenievich tries to defend his right to independence, but this is not good for him. All his passions, Margarita is tossed out in two counts. What will end this confrontation, the viewer tries to guess during the whole film.

The main actors

"Pokrovsky Gates", actors and roles in which are endowed with a special charm and character, differ in stellar performance.

St. Petersburg actor Anatoly Ravikovich, who received the role of Lev Evgenievich, was completely captured in the image. His character was so touching in the frame that the audience was sincerely sympathetic.

Inna Ulyanova, in the image of Margarita, became simply a decoration of the film. Her indignant phrase "Hobots, this is shallow!" Became an aphorism. A brilliant monologue, addressed to the heroine Koreneva, makes the viewer simply roll with laughter.

The role of student Konstantin Romin was played by young Oleg Menshikov, who later will become a landmark figure for Russian cinema. "Pokrovsky Gates" - a film that allowed this actor to start a brilliant career. His windy Kostik - almost the only character who takes the side of Lev Evgenevich in the conflict. In the end, it is Kostik who organizes the caricature escape of Khobotov with his beloved on the motorcycle in the finale.

"Pokrovsky Gates": stories, actors

Victor Bortsov - actor of the Small Moscow Theater - played the role of former front-line soldier and groom Margarita - Savva Ignatievich. Noteworthy is the fact that Victor himself was not a participant in the fighting. But Vladimir Pitsek, who played in the film front-line comrade Savva, really fought during the Patriotic War.

It is impossible not to note the characteristic image of the comelier Veluyrov, who created Leonid Bronevoy. Actor, starring in the film, was already widely known for the pictures "The investigation is conducted by connoisseurs", "Seventeen Moments of Spring" and others.

The role of Alisa Vitalievna - Auntie Kostya - was played by Sofia Pilyavskaya. In the filmography of Pilyavska, in addition to the Pokrovsky Gates, many notable roles - Countess Vronskaya in Anna Karenina (1967), Raisa Pavlovna in the picture "We'll Live To Monday" (1968).

The roles of the second plan in the film were performed by Elena Koreneva, Valentina Voilkova, Tatiana Dogileva, Igor Dmitriev and other well- known actors.

Film crew

"Pokrovsky Gates", the actors and roles in which perfectly merged, could and did not appear on the screens at all. The director of the project, Mikhail Kozakov, angered Goskino's direction by refusing to shoot in the film "The State Border" (1981). Therefore, Kozakov was transparently hinted that his project might collapse. Mikhail Kozakov agreed to shoot Boris Stepanov in the film, and the release of the "Pokrovsky Gate" did not interfere with anything else.

But the misadventures of the film crew did not end there either. Immediately after filming and sounding the film Elena Koreneva went abroad and did not return. To the creativity of the emigrant actors at that time were strictly treated, and the film could simply be banned. But, fortunately, this did not happen.

The painting was shot according to Leonid Zorin 's script . Zorin also wrote a year earlier script for the film drama "Transit", as well as for the films "The Tsar's Hunt" (1990) and "The Law" (1989).

Interesting Facts

The film "The Pokrovsky Gates", whose actors and roles were so close to the viewer, was actually staged based on the play of the same name created by Zorin back in 1974. Mikhail Kozakov was one of the first to stage a play on this play at the Malaya Bronnaya Theater. Then he had the idea to transfer this funny tragicomic story to TV screens - so began work on the script for the film.

Emigration of the actress Koreneva still affected the fate of the "Pokrovsky Gates": after the translation of the picture in 1983 on central television, the film remained on the shelf for another three years until it was again shown to the viewer.

There are several historical mistakes in the film - they are all connected with transport. In the picture, trolley buses and car license plates flash later than the one in which the action unfolds.

Discrepancies with the play

The unity of time and place of action is an indispensable condition for the creation of the play, since for the whole of its show the situation can be changed on average only two or three times. Cinema in this regard is not constrained by the possibilities, so the "Pokrovsky Gates" is a film that in many respects does not resemble the original source, that is, The play.

The differences are not only in the situation in which the events unfold, but also in images. For example, a striking feature of Savva Ignatievich in the picture was his habit of using German words and expressions in speech. Student Kostik, in turn, spits French phrases. But in Zorin's play, both characters speak like ordinary people and do not use foreign words.

"Pokrovsky Gates", actors and roles played by them, have been responding to the hearts of the audience for 30 years, because each of the heroes can easily recognize themselves. The film is part of the gold collection of Soviet cinema and, most likely, will never disappear from the screens precisely because of the life truth that is inherent in the picture.
