Poem "The Odyssey." A brief summary of the fabulous adventures described by Homer
The Odyssey is a fairy-tale poem, which unfolds in magical countries with giants and monsters, where Odysseus wandered, and in his own little kingdom in Ithaca, where Penelope (wife) and Telemach (son) were waiting for him.
Athena appeared to the prince in the image of Odysseus' wandering friend. A brief summary of the adventures tells of her son's call to search for his father, which the potential suitors of Penelope opposed. Imperceptibly Telemachus enters the ship and goes first to Nestor in Pylos. It turned out that the decrepit elder did not know anything about the fate of Odysseus. The prince goes to Elena and Menela in Sparta, where she learns that his father is alive and suffering on the island of Calypso.
Athena was able to help - according to the order of Zeus Hermes goes to Calypso on the coast, Odysseus is released from the island. He hastily builds a raft and keeps his way to Ithaca. Poseidon (lord of the seas), enraged at Odysseus because he dared to blind his son Polyphemus (Cyclops), smashes the unpretentious swimming tool to smithereens. But Athena again saves the hero, helping him to reach the living on the coast. Odyssey brings to life a servant of Princess Sterhia Navsikai, who shows him the way to the capital.
Arriving at the palace, the protagonist of the poem prays the ruler of the phalanx Alkino and his wife Areta, so that they helped him to return to his native land.
Home sent by Homer Odyssey, generously endowed with the poachers, landing on a fast ship. So the king of Ithaca returns to his homeland, which he had not seen for about 20 years. But here Odysseus lies in wait for danger - impudent suitors plan to kill him. With the help of Athena and Telemachus, he overcomes all obstacles and reunites with his wife. At Ithaca, peace and grace are restored.
The fabulous Odyssey strikes with its plot, atmosphere and mood. The summary is more reminiscent of a romantic story than a heroic epic. The main hero performs feats not on the battlefield, but among monsters and wizards, so cunning and resourcefulness for him are as important as courage and power. Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, shows heroic perseverance in the struggle for his love and loyalty. Mamenkin's son Telemachus grows up to the end of the narrative. The gods of the Odyssey are peaceful and majestic, Athena is especially charming. The finale of the poem is permeated with the triumph of justice.
