Pneumosclerosis of the lungs: occurrence, causes, symptoms, treatment

The proliferation of scarring connective tissues in the lungs, leading to a disruption of their normal functioning, is called pulmonary pneumosclerosis. The term "pneumosclerosis" comes from the Greek "pneumon" -the lung and "sklerosis" -solidification, solidification, and combines a number of different etiologies and pathogenesis states.

Pneumosclerosis of the lungs is not a stable condition, it is a constantly evolving and progressive process that gives a sufficiently long remission. The scar tissue modified by the scar process provides favorable conditions for the development of the inflammatory process due to infection in them. In the presence of primary non-infectious pneumosclerosis of the lungs, the infection is most often secondary, contributing to the development of this disease and its progression.

The main reasons for the development of pneumosclerosis are: acute and chronic forms of pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, whooping cough, measles, prolonged congestion in the blood vessels of the lungs, as well as systemic connective tissue diseases.

Pneumosclerosis of the lung is a polyethological disease. Thus, pneumosclerosis, which develops against the backdrop of prolonged stagnant phenomena with various myocardial lesions and heart defects, is called cardiogenic. The development of this type of pneumosclerosis is facilitated by frequent heart attacks of the lungs and pneumonia. Violating the function of external respiration, cardiogenic pneumosclerosis of the lungs aggravates the phenomenon of circulatory insufficiency.

If pneumosclerosis develops due to acute prolonged and chronic pneumonia, it is called metapneumonic. A disease of this type can not appear clinically for some time, and therefore it is only detected with the help of X-ray study.
Also often enough, pneumosclerosis develops against the background of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Depending on the degree of functional disorders, pulmonary pneumosclerosis is distinguished, which occurs without a pronounced impairment of respiratory activity, with violation of the patency of the bronchi and causing a disruption in the function of respiration and leading to the development of cardiovascular insufficiency.

There are different degrees of prevalence of the lesion, so there is focal pneumosclerosis (the lungs are segmental), multifocal, mixed and diffuse (complete lung damage).

The main manifestation of this disease is shortness of breath. In the initial stages, it is noted only in the presence of physical exertion, and subsequently becomes a permanent phenomenon. Also, one of the manifestations of pneumosclerosis is the cyanosis of the skin, resulting from a violation of ventilation of pulmonary tissue affected by sclerosis. In addition to these symptoms, there may be a scant cough, chest pains, sometimes subfebrile temperature.

Pneumosclerosis of the lung: treatment

Depending on the stage of the disease and the prevalence of the process, treatment can be carried out in a hospital or outpatient. In the presence of severe allergic reactions, the administration of desensitizing drugs and corticosteroid therapy are prescribed. If there is a concomitant infectious process, antibacterial drugs are prescribed. To facilitate shortness of breath, prescribe preparations of euphyllin and theoephedrine. To eliminate signs of heart failure, cardiac glycoside therapy is performed , and expectorant-diluting agents are used to improve pulmonary ventilation. In addition to taking medication, respiratory gymnastics and exercise therapy are shown.

Pneumosclerosis of the lung: treatment with folk remedies

As an auxiliary method for treating pneumosclerosis, good results are obtained by the intake of decoction herbs of thyme creeping, common piculber, eucalyptus blue and oat seed. For the preparation of infusion it is necessary 1 tbsp. L. Herbs pour 0,5 l. Boiling water and insist on a thermos night. Take infusion is necessary hot for the next day. Once a month, the grass should be replaced.
