Personal respiratory protection
general information
Individual respiratory protection means are of three types: dust protective (PTM masks, bandages from gauze and cotton wool), respirators and gas masks of different levels and methods of protection, which, in turn, are divided into two categories: insulating and filtering. The first are applicable in emergency situations, with too much contaminated oxygen from harmful substances (often applicable in the period of military operations). These include hose devices and personal respiratory protection, in which clean air is taken from a special cylinder with oxygen or compressed air. To the second type (filter products) are means that work under more optimal and less harmful conditions (more than 17% of oxygen). Next, we will talk in more detail about the means of protection that can be useful in everyday life - gas masks and respirators.
Filtering gas masks
Usage: put on the chin to the crown, tightens sharply. After putting on, there should be no unevenness. It is important to know that before putting on you need to hold the air in the lungs. You can resume breathing after you put on a gas mask. Features of use: it is impossible to use it to protect seriously wounded people or people with sick vessels of the head, with unstable pressure, meningitis. At the same time, such personal respiratory protection means, in contrast to isolators, are great for additional training and training. It should, however, be noted that in cold winter conditions, it is necessary to treat the neck and face under the mask from airing.
They are quite simple to use, unlike a gas mask. With their help, depending on the level of the respirator can be protected from both street dust and industrial dust. In addition, they are used in war conditions, in medicine, etc. Such a means of individual protection of the respiratory organs is worn on the face, fastened behind the ears. The respirators are divided into three types: dust, gas and respirators with the combined capabilities of the first two. Thanks to a thin, but durable material, dustproof respirators are used as a protection against aerosols. The latter are used in conditions of oxygen in the compounds of phosphorus and chlorine. Such personal protective equipment for respiratory organs is also used in the presence of acetone, gasoline and other organic compounds in the air.
