Orange hazard level in the color value scale

Our nature does not have bad weather - a wise proverb that came to us from the past. Of course, for the environment, any weather is good, but to the person the abnormal weather phenomena certainly bring some losses. With the aim of preventing and informing the population of the country, the Republican Hydrometeorological Center introduced many years ago the use of a scale of color values to describe the level of danger of weather events. Often on television or in the media, you can hear that in a certain area an orange level of weather danger is declared. What does it mean?

What to expect from the weather?

Reports of worsening weather are often frightening. And not without reason. The orange level of danger indicates to us that in most of the country or in a particular area there is a possibility of unfavorable weather conditions. Depending on the season, it can be hail, rain, thunder, snowfall, abnormal heat or, conversely, frost. Such natural phenomena can adversely affect social and economic activities, as well as cause material damage to society. In addition, the orange hazard level informs that adverse weather events can become risky for human health and even lead to casualties.

Are we staying at home or go out for a walk?

This dilemma often confronts the inhabitants of any country, regardless of its geographical location. So it is arranged in the world that bad weather periodically "covers" this or that corner of the globe. So, if an orange level of danger is declared in your locality and the storm rages outside the window, then it is advisable to stay at home on this day. When there is no way to wait out the bad weather, it is best to reduce your stay on the street to a minimum. As practice shows, often bad weather conditions play evil jokes with motorists. Therefore, if possible, leave your personal car and use the metro or any other public transport. However, if your work is connected with the road, then be careful and best slow the speed!

Color value scale

According to international standards, weather conditions are characterized by a scale of color values. To indicate the severity of climate events, the following colors are accepted: green, yellow, orange and red. Is the hazard level on the green mark? Hence, unfavorable weather can be completely ruled out. Yellow indicates the probability of poor climatic conditions with minimal risk to the population. If the orange level of danger characterizes weather conditions as "risky for human life", then the red color informs about the highest degree of danger. To avoid casualties, the public is strongly advised not to leave their homes.

Planning your trip, it is worthwhile to listen to forecasts of weather forecasters. However, there is no need to panic and immediately cancel their plans if they announced on TV that tomorrow an orange level of danger is expected. Just take it into account and be prepared for the deterioration of the weather, even despite a sunny morning. If the elements caught you on the road, and visibility on the road is nowhere worse, then if possible stop and wait for the bad weather. Remember: there is nothing more precious than your life!
