Perm State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after PI Tchaikovsky is one of the oldest in Russia. His repertoire contains world classical masterpieces. He is loved not only by the inhabitants of the city, but also by guests.

History of the theater

The Opera House (Perm) appeared in 1870. It was then that the premiere of the first performance took place. This was M. Glinka's opera Life for the Tsar. The first ballet was staged in 1926. The patrons of the theater were: Sergei Diaghilev and PI Tchaikovsky. All the ballets and operas of the great composer were presented at the Perm Opera. This was the reason why in 1965 the theater was named after P. I. Tchaikovsky. The grandfather of Sergei Diaghilev allocated a fairly large sum for the construction of the building.

The Perm Theater of Opera and Ballet is called the Music Laboratory. His poster really often offers spectators experimental performances. Directors often use non-standard production solutions in the classics. And they also learn modern material. The Perm theater has always stood out for it. His ballet is also unique. Dancers have the ability to work with rare material. The ballet performances of the theater became "sensational": "Conditionally killed" and "Orango". For the first time the viewer saw them 90 years ago. Today these performances are in the Perm theater in the scenery, as close to the original. At the same time, their choreography is modern. The choreographer of the projects is Alexei Miroshnichenko, who has his own original handwriting.

A new era began for the theater, when the post of art director was occupied by Theodore Curentis. Thanks to him, the principle of repertoire planning has changed. The performances began to go in blocks, which allows increasing the performing level of the artists. The performances of the Perm Opera have been repeatedly awarded the main and prestigious award "Golden Mask". In 2013, the theater set a record, becoming a seventeen-fold nominee. As a result, I received four such awards.

Artistic director

Artistic director of the theater is conductor T. Curentzis. He is the founder of the chamber choir and the MusicAeterna Orchestra. Theodore came to the opera house (Perm) in 2004. At first he held the post of chief conductor, and today combines it with the artistic direction.

T. Curtenzis was born in Greece. He graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatoire in the conductor class. In Russia, he lives and works since 1990. Theodore was awarded the Golden Mask Award six times. The MusicAeterna orchestra created by him is one of the most famous and famous in Russia. The basis of his repertoire is authentic music. Although the modern works of musicians do not bypass. Theodor Curentsis is considered the best music performer in Russia by WA Mozart. He is recognized not only by music lovers, but also by critics. For this feature he is often called "Perm Mozart". Theodor Curentsis toured with his musicians across Europe. He also worked with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, Salzburg, the Paris National Opera, and Baden-Baden.

Maestro is also the organizer and leader of two festivals: ancient music "Territory" and Diaghilevsky. The latter is carried out in order to preserve and develop the traditions of the great impresario.
