New York airports: general description and how to get to the city

New York airports on the city map are located near Manhattan. In total there are three in the city. In order to get from the center to any of them, it takes about an hour. If you want to move from one to another, it's best to use the shuttle. It should be noted that all airports in New York are able to receive international flights.

John F. Kennedy Airport

The main air gate not only of the city itself, but of the whole of North America, is the John F. Kennedy airport . It consists of eight terminals and is located in Queens. The distance from here to Lower Manhattan is nineteen kilometers. Flights from Russia to Aeroflot are accepted to the first terminal, Delta to the third, and Transaero to the fourth. After passing control and obtaining baggage, you need to choose a way of further movement to the center. In this case, you can use the bundle "Air train" -metro or order a taxi. And in the first and second case the relocation will take about forty minutes.

LaGuardia Airport

Just like the rest of New York's airports, La Guardia is relatively near Manhattan. It consists of four terminals, mainly receiving and sending flights in local traffic, as well as from other states of the American continent and the Caribbean region. In this regard, domestic and European tourists get here only in the case of further travel through the territory of the United States. An interesting feature of La Guardia is that absolutely all aircraft when landing and taking off from here fly in close proximity to Manhattan, if more precisely, at a distance of about one kilometer from it. This is an unforgettable sight that other airports in New York can not provide. By taxi to the city center from here you can get there in half an hour. A little more time will be required when traveling on the bus-metro link.

Newark Airport

Newark is 24 kilometers from Manhattan, but in the neighboring state of New Jersey. This is the domestic and international airport of New York, consisting of three passenger terminals, one cargo and one helicopter. It should be noted that one of them ("C") is fully occupied by the US operator company "United", which is more known under the former name Continental. It deals with international and domestic flights. In the terminal "A" there is no passport and border control, so here sit and take off the liners of American companies in domestic traffic. The only exception is Air Canada. Absolutely all intercontinental flights of European airlines are accepted to terminal "B". After landing in Newark, there are several options for further movement to the city center, as well as when landing at other airports in New York. The simplest of them is a taxi. In addition, you can use the bunch "Air train" -electric, or "Air train" - PATH (the metro line that connects the state of New Jersey and Manhattan and passes under the Hudson River). In all three cases, the journey time is approximately fifty minutes.
