Never flush it into drains!

Sometimes it is convenient to throw some waste into a sink, wash it off with water so that it goes into the sink. But believe me, there are things that are better to throw into the trash.

Eggshell

You may think that the crushed egg shell will flow smoothly down the tubes, but in fact it causes considerable clogging. The sharp, hard edges of the shell will collect other food residues that flow down your drain, and as a result clogging will occur, which will require specialist intervention.

Fat

When you pour grease into the sink, it sticks to the drainpipes and to those pipes that pass on the street under the ground, too. This can lead to the fact that the whole pipeline will become clogged with time. Other oil-based products are also dangerous for draining, for example, vegetable oil, salad dressings, butter, mayonnaise. If necessary, first make sure that the fat has cooled down, and then dispose of it in the trash.

Flour

Flour becomes a thick substance when mixed with water. This can clog your pipes. The viscous substance envelops the edges of the pipes and seizes other pieces of food, objects that try to break through. Always throw away flour (not important, mixed with water or not) in the trash can.

Any medicine

If you pour out an unused medication that has expired, or if you crush it and discharge it into the sewer, these chemicals will eventually leak back into your drinking water and the environment. Always follow the expiration dates of your medications, and if you suddenly want to put things in order in the medicine cabinet and get rid of expired drugs, then try to throw them into a bucket for rubbish, not a sink.

Stickers from products

Almost always people wash their fruits and vegetables and forget to remove the sticker. She falls into the sink, and you just let her go down. Always remove the stickers before you wash the fruit, and try to get rid of them properly. These small stickers do not dissolve in water and can clog your pipes, and also block filters and pumps at a water treatment plant.

Coffee grounds

It quickly accumulates in the pipes and thereby causes clogging. Plumbers say that the most common cause of problems with sewage are the remains of coffee grounds. Try to always throw such waste into the trash can or try to use it for composting. You can also apply the remains of coffee grounds for the preparation of various facial care products and hair masks.

Products that are "allowed" to wash off

Products on which it is written that they are "washable", such as some brands of fillers for cat litter and wet wipes, still pose a high risk of clogging up the drains. Fillers absorb the moisture well, and even after you wash them off, they still absorb the water, and the toxins from the cat's faeces can seep into the pond. Wet wipes also do not collapse properly and often fall into other objects, creating large clots in the pipes.

Condoms

Condoms are made of latex, which does not decompose in water, so never, never wash it off. Throw them in the garbage can. If you wash them off, they may end up in a pond, and river life often mistakes them for food and as a result dies of suffocation.

Cleaners

Despite the fact that most cleaning products are liquid, they should never be discharged into the sewer system, as they contain harmful chemicals. Many contain phosphates, antibacterial agents and other compounds that are not processed in a water treatment plant and can be hazardous to the ecosystem.

Paper products

The only paper product that should go down the tubes is toilet paper. This product is specially designed for destruction in water. Always throw away other paper products such as paper towels, cotton balls and feminine hygiene products into the trash. These items are extremely absorbent and easily clog your pipes.

Food, which has the feature of increasing in size

This is normal when some food gets into the sewer, but most of the products expand when mixed with water and can lead to blockage. Macaroni and rice are two forbidden products, which it is better not to wash in the sink. In addition, pasta is made from flour, which will become sticky in the drainpipe and arrange blockage in the pipe.

Paint

Like cleaning agents, paint residues should not be drained into sewers, even if it is liquid. This can pollute the environment and lead to clogging of the sink. Many cities have hazardous waste facilities where you can safely dispose of old or unused paint.
