MP-512 with gas spring: speed of bullets, photo

The pneumatic rifle MR-512 from fans of the wind weapon is considered one of the most popular. A worthy competition for this model on the market is only the pneumatic version of the Makarov pistol.

Initially, the popularity of the rifle MP-512 among other models of the wind weapon was caused precisely by the lack of the buyer's ability to choose. On the shelves there were only these rifles and pneumatic Makarovs. Over time, when the show-windows of armory shops were filled with expensive Spanish and German wind models, the popularity of the MP-512 rifle was significantly affected by its relatively low price.

"Murka", as still popularly called this model, has become one of the most purchased among the rest of pneumatic weapons. Its cost is several times less, and the equipment of the mechanism with an increased spring significantly improves the tactical and technical characteristics. Izhevsk Mechanical Plant successfully produces pneumatic rifles MP-512 with a gas spring, the speed of bullets and power of which are not inferior to foreign pneumatics.

Variants of rifles "Murka"

Today on sale there is an enhanced version of "Murki". This is an air rifle MP-512 m with a caliber of 4.5 and 5.5 mm and a power of 25 J. Initially, the MP-512 was presented in two versions - for the production of the box, wood or plastic was used.

The model of this rifle first appeared on the shelves of gun shops in 1998.

What is a gas spring and how does it work?

The spring for pneumatics is a hollow cylinder, inside which a compressed gas is contained. In one part there is a plunger - a special rod that moves under the action of compressed gas in the longitudinal direction. By pushing the plunger out of the cylinder, a force is exerted on the piston of the pneumatics. During the platoon, the rod is pushed into the cylinder, and during the shot, the gas, which is filled with a power spring, pushes the rod back.

This principle works MP-512 with a gas spring. The speed of the bullet (the photo below is a feature of the operation of spring-piston pneumatics) depends on the speed of the plunger and piston accelerated by the compressed gas.

If necessary, you can increase the pressure in the cylinder to 250 atmospheres, which will significantly increase the speed of the bullet (up to 230 meters per second).

Premium Gas Springs

The reinforced Premium springs are used for such Russian-made air rifles as the MP-514 and MP-512. With a gas spring, the speed of the bullet is unchanged. What can not be said about the wind versions, equipped with conventional twisted springs. With such weapons, the initial speed of the bullet is unstable, its swings from shot to shot are observed.

Characteristics:

  • The diameter of the spring rod is 0.8 cm;
  • The length of the gas spring is 119 mm;
  • The spring spindle has a length of 88 mm;
  • A force of 55 kg is applied;
  • Injection pressure - 120 atmospheres (depending on individual preferences it is possible, having ordered adjustment for pressure, to raise it to 250 atmospheres);
  • Gas - nitrogen 80% is used for filling;
  • The spring body and its stem are made of steel.

During the operation of a pneumatic weapon reinforced with a gas spring, it is necessary to periodically perform its technical check for maintenance. It is advisable to do this after eight to ten thousand shots.

Gas springs from Vado

The reinforced springs of the Vado manufacturer are adapted for such Russian air rifles as the MP-512 Murka and the standard IL-38.

Characteristics:

  • The fighting spring has a diameter of 0.8 cm;
  • Injection pressure - 115 atmospheres;
  • A pressure of 53 kg is applied to the stem;
  • Nitrogen is used for filling 80%;
  • In the production of a spring, steel is used.

This spring is sold in one copy. It is attached to the thrust-centering washer. Once a year or after the production of ten thousand shots, the air rifle should be handed over for inspection to the MOT.

Advantages and features of firing from the MR-512 with a gas spring

  • The velocity of the bullet increases significantly (up to 2 m / s). At the same time there is an increase in power to 15%.
  • Accuracy of hits increases. In this case, the sound of the shot becomes short and biting.
  • The reinforced gas spring for МР-512 is easily installed on the standard pneumatic, without the need to change its design, turning or milling its completion. In this case, using a thrust centering washer, the spring to be mounted must only be centered in the back. A washer is provided in the kit. The ease and simplicity of installing reinforced springs is typical only for rifles since 2008. In products manufactured before this time, the installation of gas springs is performed with mandatory modifications in the design. The owner needs to pierce the backdrop with a diameter of 20 mm to 32 and refine the mechanisms for platoon and descent. New models and standard pneumatic rifles IZH-38 with reinforced spring installed on them should be given once a year to the technical inspection center for inspection.
  • Comfort at shooting. The speed of the MP-512 bullet with the gas spring increases due to elimination of vibration and lateral oscillations, which is typical for the operation of coil springs in standard pneumatic rifles.
  • Uniform platoon, requiring a minimum of effort.
  • Due to the spring, the efficiency of the MP-512 increases.
  • The ability to store weapons without negative consequences for the quality of shots. No changes in the characteristics of this do not occur in the MP-512 with a gas spring. The speed of the bullet (up to 2 meters per second) is characterized by stability, which is very appreciated by hunters. The ability to leave a rifle with a gas spring in the cocked state is explained by its low load on the USM details. Twisted springs set in the cocked state is not recommended - this will lead to a decrease in the service life of USM parts.
  • Soft descent.
  • Unlike pneumatic rifles with coil springs, the wind instruments, equipped with their gas analogs, do not have any clashing sounds in the system when firing and platooning. This feature provides for the MP-512 gas spring, the speed of which develops to two meters per second.
  • The service life of gas springs is 5 times greater than that of twisted ones.
  • Equipping a wind weapon with gas springs enables the rifle owner to use optical sights. This is due to low impact during the shooting.

What do you need to remember the owners of the MR-512 with a gas spring?

In a pneumatic rifle with a reinforced spring, in addition to increasing the speed of the bullet, power, increasing comfort during shooting and other positive qualities, there are two drawbacks caused by the peculiarities of the arrangement of gas springs:

  • GP depends on the temperature regime. This quality is determined by the presence of the gas used. At minus temperature, the pressure in the cylinder is reduced, which negatively affects the power of the weapon (it falls by 5%). Owners of rifles MP-512 with gas springs are not recommended to shoot in frosts, because in such conditions the metals used in weapons become very fragile, and the lubricant is viscous. At the same time, all the seals made of rubber and polyurethane lose their flexibility, dub.

  • Gas springs are a complex mechanical product that is sensitive to various contaminants and mechanical external influences. This spring is more likely to be broken than twisted. Therefore, in the absence of the required qualifications, it is not recommended to perform its installation. It is better to entrust this work to professionals.

Gas springs have been used in air rifles since the late 80s. The development of technology makes it possible to improve the wind instrument. The market is constantly replenished with products of new manufacturers supplying various models of spring-piston pneumatics.
