Hob: dimensions, description and reviews

Modern kitchen is inconceivable without a hob. It can be gas, electric and combined, various brands, types and manufacturers. How to understand this huge assortment and choose a convenient, safe, and most importantly - exactly appropriate in size?

Burners

Does the size of the panel depend on the number? And is it important how much space the hob occupies? Dimensions, according to the designers, are very important. The world tends to minimalism, so it is advisable to free up more space.

Often, the choice of a modern cooking panel is still connected with stereotypes, so the best selling 4-burner technology. But this is not always reasonable. Families in cities are usually small. And rarely modern housewives use more than two burners at the same time. This is an occasion to reflect.

Type of heating

It usually does not affect the dimensions of the built-in slab. Personal preferences and supposed culinary tasks are important here.

Height

The standard for built-in slabs is a height of 40 to 50 mm. Since the average width of the kitchen countertop is 38 mm. The models are also produced with a height of 8-10 cm. In this case, the cooking surface is buried 5-6 cm, installing it on a pre-mounted shelf-jumper. If a drawer was planned under the built-in slab, it should be borne in mind that its useful volume will decrease.

Width

Of the models on the market, the minimum width of the panel is 30 cm. The burner in this case can not exceed two. Usually the front burner is low-power, the far one is the most powerful one. Rarely there are models with a hot-plate burner. The overall dimensions of cooking gas panels of one and two burners are identical. Only the thickness varies. The standard version is 45 mm. But there are models of both 82 mm and 100 mm.

Electric panels with a width of 30 cm have only two cooking zones. Most often they are radial and rapid heating. Less common are oval.

Perfect option

Width 45 cm for built-in three-burner plate and 60 cm - for four are considered the golden mean. The first has a triangular arrangement of burners with a vertex on the right. In this place have a hot-plate burner, and no matter what this hob is. Dimensions of the round built-in plate (for example, from Foster) have a diameter of 52 cm. Belarusian built-in slabs "Hephaestus" CH2120 have the shape of a streamlined triangle with a width of 73.3 cm.

Control knobs in this category of built-in slabs are almost always horizontal, but models with a vertical control device are also on the market.

Popular size

The most running width is 60 cm. The gas heating panels have standard four burners. There is their manufacturer in the form of a trapezoid, diamond or rectangle. Buying a built-in stove with uncharacteristic positions of the burners, you need to be prepared for some inconvenience when cooking.

Popular sizes of cooking hobs are: 64 x 900 x 515 mm (Smeg), 47 x 306 x 546 mm (Neff), 57 x 513 x 793 mm (Gaggenau). They are presented in different colors: white, black or copper.

The full-size models with a size of 60 x 60 cm or, as Bosch offers - 58 * 52 cm are popular.

Cute is not standard

This category includes five-burner built-in slabs, the minimum width of which is 68 cm. More often, one burner is in the center, the rest are placed around the perimeter. But there are hobs on which a large hotplate is located on the left, four smaller ones - a square on the remaining area (for example, Neff). The hob, whose dimensions in its widest part - more than 68 cm, do not always have a hot-plate burner.

But the color scheme of such devices is very diverse. There are models of blue, green and even bright green. Handles of inclusion are located respectively to the burners only from Italian manufacturers.

Cooking panels of electric heating with a width of 61-80 cm are available with four and five burners.

Full-size hobs

Gas hobs for five hotplates can be up to 80 cm wide. However, in this case one more burner is added. The company Hotpoint-Ariston produces panels 75 and 87 cm wide. The overall size of the built-in hob from Smeg has the widest width: from 90 to 116 cm. But the burners on such a large area are only four. Zoning does not depend on their number. Most often, one is radial and one oval. Separated from this series are Siemens and Bosch. Their five-burner panels have 4 zones: one oval and three radial. Electrical panels are not available in widths over 91.6 cm.

Exceptions to the rules

If the kitchen space is rather limited or the table top is small, manufacturers offer gas hobs with four burners arranged in a row. In this case, the depth to 350-400 mm is significantly reduced, but the width is increased to 1000-1100 mm. The hob, the dimensions of which are described above, looks original, and it is convenient to cook on it.

There are also vintage variants of an interesting curvilinear form. The functionality of such models did not suffer at all. Some manufacturers specialize in recessed corners. They significantly save the kitchen space.

Modular systems

Today, judging by the reviews, they are at the peak of popularity. Such systems are produced on the basis of the "Domino" principle. Built-in hob, the dimensions of which can be adjusted independently, open unprecedented opportunities for designers and users.

The hob type Domino is made up of sections. The standard width of each is about 300 mm, the depth is 500 mm. In the module there can be two gas burners: one of them is of increased power or one burner is gas, the other is electric.

Judging by the feedback of users, the most interesting options allow you to create non-standard dishes for ordinary cuisine, because they have grilles, steamers, fryers, braziers, baking sheets, etc. Many manufacturers equip these hob options with hoods and even kitchen combines. Thanks to the system of modules, each unit can be installed at some distance from each other and even swapped, coming to more comfortable use.

Ovens: dependent and independent

Today, there is no need to select an oven in proportion to the built-in hob. It can be installed, thanks to modern technologies, in any place convenient for the hostess. The depth of the oven ranges from 55 to 60 cm. Therefore, these dimensions of cooking hobs and ovens are generally accepted. There are also compact models with depths of 50 cm.

Users are advised in the kitchen with a small area to choose an oven 45 cm high. The apparent loss of internal volume does not prevent the preparation on a standard wide pan. And two dishes at the same time are extremely rare.

For non-standard kitchens manufacturers produce models of classical height - 60 cm, but width - 45 cm. In such an oven you can use both tiers, but the baking sheets in the set are narrow. The volume of non-standard ovens ranges from 35 to 65 liters.

Experts advise carefully to think about the place of installation of the oven, especially if it is independent. Oversized cabinets are much more expensive.

Innovative technology

Despite the fact that electric cooking surfaces are very common today, very few people know that with the same type of heating induction cookers are significantly different from the rest.

Under the surface of this recessed panel, instead of the heating elements, there are electromagnetic coils. They generate a magnetic field that heats only the dishes standing on the stove (it must have ferromagnetic properties).

The overall dimensions of the induction hobs with a width of 45 cm contain only three heating elements. But in fact for an average family this is more than enough, given the high efficiency of built-in slabs of this type.

For example, the German manufacturer Zigmund & Shtain offers a panel width of 45 cm classic black. It is equipped with three burners, but even the smallest of them boils water faster than an electric kettle. This is how the Booster boost function works.

Standard sizes of 58 X 51 cm have a large model range. Housewives say that induction hobs with non-standard sizes differ in the original design and in the interesting arrangement of the heating elements. They are usually four different diameters.

Installation of induction panels requires special accuracy. It happens that during installation there is not enough a couple of millimeters. And manufacturers warn about this and attach to the product a detailed scheme of surface mounting with requirements for technical gaps and holes. If these conditions are not observed, the user may lose the warranty.

Post Scriptum

The dimensions of the hobs and ovens of any type of heating do not affect their functionality. When choosing a built-in gas-heated plate, you need to pay attention to the hot-plate burner, gas-control today is available for absolutely all models. Buying a panel with electric heating, buyers are advised to ask whether there is an expansion zone and what form it has.

The standard working kitchen area assumes the presence of two full zones. The first (up to 100 cm wide) is located between the sink and the hob, the second (at least 30 cm wide) - from the panel to the wall or the edge of the countertop. Accordingly, following these recommendations, you need to determine the dimensions for the hob.
