Movladi Baisarov: biography and photo of Major

Movladi Zaipullaevich Baisarov is a Chechen military leader, commander of the "Highlander" detachment, a former security guard of Akhmad Kadyrov. According to some reports, in the early 90s he was an agent of the FSB and worked under cover in the Islamic Special Purpose Regiment of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. Was related to the abduction of citizens of Russia and European countries. As he himself said, he headed an armed group that was created to protect the Kadyrov family. He lived in the capital of Russia for many years.

Ruslan Baysarov

Before going directly to the biography of Movladi Baisarov, we will deviate a bit from the topic and try to answer a question that interests many Russians. What does Ruslan Baisarov have to do with Movladi and are they brothers?

A few words about Ruslan

A businessman of Chechen descent who was widely known for his civil marriage with Kristina Orbakaite. Ruslan was born in the south of Chechnya, in the village of Veduchi. Father - Sulim Baisarov, mother - Kasirat Baisarova. Ruslan moved to Moscow in the early 90s and took up entrepreneurial activity, which brought him the first millions. At the moment he is considered one of the richest Chechens.

Despite the fact that both Rodina, Movladi Baisarov and Ruslan Baisarov are not brothers at all, they are just namesake. Well, now let's move on to the immediate hero of our article.

The Free Nineties

Movladi Baysarov was born in 1966 in the village of Pobedinskoye (north-western suburb of Grozny). In 1998, he left for Kazakhstan, where he lived until 1998. Then he was guarding the family of Akhmad Kadyrov while in Moscow.

According to other sources, in the early 1990s he was in the detachment of a well-known Chechen criminal Ruslan Labazanov (liquidated in 1996 in the village of Tolstoy-Yurt). There is an opinion that Movladi participated in the first Chechen war, and then claimed the title of brigadier general of the Republic of Ichkeria and awarded the Order of Merit. He was on friendly terms with the vice-president of Chechnya V. Arsanov (they were both born in Shatoi district).

After the end of the first Chechen war in 1996, Baisarov's detachment was part of the so-called Islamic Special Purpose Regiment (IPON). He was commanded by Arbi Barayev, a radical Islamist and kidnapper well-known in Chechnya. True, some believed that he worked for the FSB. Baisarov's men guarded Vakha Arsanov and Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev.

According to some reports, at the beginning of the second Chechen campaign, Movladi Baisarov, whose photo can be seen in this article, took part in hostilities against federal troops. According to one version, he fought under the village of Dolinsky, on the other - in the first months he went over to the side of the government.

Detachment "Highlander"

In 1999, Movladi Baisarov participated in a skirmish with the Wahhabis. In the battle, two of his relatives were killed. At the same time, he joined the detachment of the Chechen mufti Akhmad Kadyrov, who fought actively against the Islamists. After Kadyrov was appointed head of the administration of the Chechen Republic, a special unit "Highlander" was organized. He represented the personal protection of the mufti and was seconded to the coordinating management of the FSB.

Wound

On July 25, 2004, Movladi Baisarov, whose biography is set out in this article, was seriously wounded during the attempt on Kadyrov. After the latter passed away, the security service was disbanded. However, Baisarov transformed his men into a separate combat group, known in Chechnya as the "death squadron". Officially, they continued to be called the Highlander detachment. Human rights activists stated that this group was engaged in murders and kidnappings of people. For example, from the third to the fourth of January 2004, Movladi kidnapped and liquidated the Musayev family (about thirty people). This was done out of vengeance for the brutal murder of Baisarov's brother Shirvani, who was a police major.

Other "feats" of the detachment "Highlander"

Movladi was convicted of kidnapping Nina Davidovich (head of the Druzhba organization) in 2002, FSB colonel S. Ushakov in 2003, a representative of Rosneft in Chechnya I. Magomedov in 2005. However, no formal charges were brought.

In addition, the "Highlander" detachment controlled illegal mining, refining and marketing of oil products that were mined in the Grozny district of the Chechen Republic. Local residents claimed that against a background of redistribution of spheres of influence between Baysarov and the battalion of the GRU special forces "West" commanded by Sayd-Magomed Kakiyev, regular armed clashes took place. There were victims on both sides.

After the death of Kadyrov, Baisarov's group moved to a semi-legal position. Nominally, she was listed in the Security Service of the antiterrorist center, but was outside the power structures of the republic. After a while, the "Highlander" detachment passed under the control of the FSB management.

What happened before the presidential election

On August 21, 2004, a week before the election of the president of the Chechen Republic, Baisarov's detachment conducted a well-planned operation in Grozny. On this day in the capital of the republic included about 150 militants, divided into several small groups. They disguised themselves as spetsnaz units and put up posts on the roadway. They braked cars, watched drivers' documents and killed officials. In addition, they attacked several police departments and the commandant's office.

After a while most of the militants were surrounded and destroyed. It turned out that Baisarov managed to introduce his agents to them, which helped significantly to carry out the antiterrorist operation. Unfortunately, there were many casualties among civilians, but the FSB of Chechnya considered the operation successful.

In total, during its existence, the "Highlander" detachment lost more than 50 personnel, and the total strength of the unit by 2006 was equal to one hundred.

Conflict with R. Kadyrov

In the spring of 2006 Movladi Baisarov quarreled with the Prime Minister of the Republic Ramzan Kadyrov. The detachment "Highlander" detained a relative of the latter, who tried to take the stolen pipes for the pipeline to Ingushetia and there to implement them. Kadyrov personally intervened in this case and tried to hush it, but Movladi publicly insulted him. Several days later, federal troops blocked the "Highlander" detachment at the base in Pobedinskoye.

Immediately, the old cases from the archives of the Staropromyslovskaya prosecutor's office rose, which again began to investigate the "long-forgotten" murder of the Musayev family. Earlier Movladi Zaipullaevich Baisarov appeared in this case as a witness. However, here he was hinted that he could get into jail.

Trip to Moscow

Movladi went to the capital to make an attempt to engage with the FSB. In Moscow, he gave several interviews to the press, where he accused Ramzan Kadyrov of numerous murders and kidnappings. He also tried to offer the then president of Chechnya, Alu Alkhanov, dirt on Kadyrov. On November 13, he said that the Chechen prime minister had sent an operational group to Moscow armed with assault rifles and grenade launchers, with the aim of detaining him by any means and taking him out to the republic.

Also on the pages of the newspaper Vremya Novostey he said that the Prosecutor General's Office was interested in him in connection with the death of A. Politkovskaya. He expressed his readiness to give answers to all questions. And since November 8, he was already looking for the Moscow police, but this did not stop Baisarov from openly living in the capital.

End of the squad "Highlander"

On the fourteenth day, the Highlander detachment was finally disarmed, and on November 15 the Interior Ministry of the Chechen Republic declared its head on the wanted list. Some media claimed that the seizure group was sent to the Russian capital on these days, and the murder of Baisarov was supervised by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Chechen Republic, Adam Demilkhanov.

At the same time, the FSB ceased all activities to protect this person. According to journalists, Movladi Baisarov, whose death was to take place soon, actively called up his former curators in the FSB. He clearly understood that he could no longer cover up, and offered to testify about Kadyrov's crimes. This was the "last card", which Baisarov also tried to play.

Death

Movladi Baisarov was killed on November 18 in Moscow. There was an event on Leninsky Prospekt. According to the official version, the officials of the capital's power bodies and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic wanted to detain him. During the arrest, he took out a grenade and threatened everyone to blow up, for this reason he was decided to be shot on the spot.

The eyewitnesses told us that the operation went like this: Movladi Baisarov, whose death was predicted by many, arrived by car to the place where he was scheduled to meet. He got out of the car and headed for the Chechens standing nearby, next to his vehicle. They shouted something not in Russian, pulled out the pistols and started shooting.

Almost all the bullets hit Baisarov's head. The murderers quietly got into their car and drove away. Employees of Moscow special purpose groups and OMON, standing on the other side of the avenue, silently watched what was happening.

Before death

A few days before the death of Movladi in an interview with the newspaper "New Times" shared a script of his murder. He suggested that he would be shot by the Chechen police "when trying to escape." Some data claim that he managed to rise to the rank of major, others say that he was a colonel of the FSB.

The Simonov Prosecutor's Office of the capital opened a criminal case on this fact. It was quickly closed. Baisarov's supporters stated that the murder was well planned. In their view, it was unprofitable for some people to investigate the murder of the Musayevs in Grozny.

Why did they kill Movladi Baisarov? There are many versions: from the official (attempted resistance at the time of arrest) to deliberate murder for political reasons.

Supporters of Movladi say that he could be killed at any time, since he did not hide. But none of this did and did not try, therefore, killed him by order. Why he was not tried to take him alive is incomprehensible. It is assumed that he was offered a deal for which he did not agree, and decided to liquidate it.

It is likely that if the then president of Chechnya Alu Alkhanov tried to hush up this conflict between his charges, Baisarov would not be shot. The police would not even interfere in this matter. The federal authorities do not care about the fate of the Chechens. It is important for it to have silence inside the republic, and it was well controlled by local authorities.

Baisarov's family

Movladi Baisarov, whose family is quite small, was married, but he had no children. In the village of Pobedinskoye (Groznensky district) his mother lives and his brother - Ortsa. Close relatives say that he did not start up children for the reason that he killed a lot of Chechens (a big sin). Movladi did not want his children to be responsible for the blood spilled by him.

However, the absence of offspring in the Caucasus does not solve the problem of blood feud. According to the Caucasian laws, if the bloodline lacks children, revenge is transferred to the above. But Baisarov could not influence this anyway.
