Africa: northern countries and their characteristics

Almost the same ancient and refined Europe, only the Arabs live in it, and instead of numerous rivers there is a huge desert. This is roughly how Upper Africa can be described. The Nordic countries located here are the largest and one of the most developed on the continent. People come here to rest on the sea and to plow the expanses of local sand valleys. So we will now plunge into the magical Arab world and find out what is interesting in this part of the continent.

States and their capitals

First, let's define what administrative units North Africa is composed of. The countries and capitals of the region here are probably at everyone's ear, since they are the main tourist destinations for many compatriots. Thus, according to the UN version, North Africa includes Egypt (Cairo), Sudan (Khartoum), Libya (Tripoli), Algeria (Algeria), Morocco (Rabat), Tunisia (Tunisia) and Western Sahara. Geographically, the following countries are added to these powers: Eritrea, Ethiopia, Chad, Niger, Mali and Mauritania. Their capitals are less visited than the above. The culture of these cities is completely African, founded by Aborigines, and most importantly - there are no tourist amenities. Geographers also include the Canary Islands here, as they are in close proximity to the region.

Climatic conditions

Even children know that the desert is the main natural asset that Africa can boast of. The Nordic countries are located exactly in this natural zone, through which the tropical climatic belt passes. Temperature differences, both diurnal and seasonal, are colossal here. Far from the cities, among the sands in the daytime the air warms up almost to +50, and at night everything cools down to +10 degrees. The summer is long, with a minimum amount of precipitation and intense heat, even on the sea coasts. In winter it is cool here - around +15 degrees, and rains often occur. Therefore, during the period from October to April, the local spa areas are empty.

Beaches of North Africa

No wonder this place is considered the most hackneyed tourist route not only for Russians, but also for Europeans. There is an amazing nature, which as if specially prepared beaches for lazy holidaymakers who want only to sunbathe and swim. They are strewn with white fine sand, and the entrance to the water is very gentle and smooth. That is, it is possible for adults to enjoy cool sea water without exercising in swimming, and not worry about the kids who will be splashing on the beach. Now let's look at which countries in North Africa are real beach centers and why. This, of course, Egypt and Tunisia. The first is washed at once by two seas - the Red and the Mediterranean. Beaches are good here and there, but on the shores of the Red Sea it's always warmer. In Tunisia, to the luxurious shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the unique atmosphere of the Ancient East is added. Because here fans go not only to sunbathe, but also to discover something interesting for themselves.

Number two - excursions

The most ancient, mysterious cultural center of our planet is Africa. The Nordic countries were the cradle of modern customs of almost all the peoples of the world, getting there in our days, it is impossible not to visit at least one of the excursions. The starting point is always the ancient Egyptian pyramids and the Sphinx. With this program, a walk in the desert goes well. In second place are the colonial buildings of the Phoenicians and Romans who occupied these lands. For many travelers, an important area is Carthage, an ancient city-state located on the territory of modern Tunisia.

A unique cuisine that will be remembered for a long time

Urgent tourism matters are, of course, the kitchen. Let's see what Africa has to offer us. The Nordic countries have long adapted to the tastes of European tourists. Therefore, in hotels you will be offered several menus to choose from (Russian dishes, French, Spanish, etc.). If you eat in local restaurants, then be ready for the burning compliments of the chefs. Here they love everything very sharp, peppery, incredibly salty - just your eyes on the forehead climb! Note also that here they do not use cutlery, as all dishes can be dipped in bread or eat with your hands.

The countries of North and South Africa: what is the similarity

Despite the fact that the African continent is incredibly large, tourists come here, mainly to the north, which is closest to Europe, or to the very south, where the most developed cities and unusually beautiful nature are located. Why is Central Africa so unfairly deprived of attention ? The Nordic countries, as well as South Africa, are fully equipped territories, where all the amenities and tourist infrastructure are developed. In the center, besides the original nature and local tribes, there is nothing. In many cities there is not even a hotel to stop. If you go to the north, or to the south of this continent, then be sure that you will certainly find yourself and a roof over your head, and a place where you can eat. And, of course, the central streets of tourist cities are open to every visitor, and it is quite safe to be here.
