Mitinskoe cemetery in Moscow

Mitinskoe cemetery is considered to be one of the largest in the whole territory of Moscow. It was founded in September 1978 and currently covers an area of more than 100 hectares. Mitinskoe cemetery, whose address is the 6th km of Pyatnitskoye Highway, is located in the northwestern part of Moscow. In ancient times, in its place was the village of Dudino. At the moment, the economic management of the Mitinsky cemetery is conducted by SUE "Ritual".

Mitinskoe cemetery has become a burial place for many famous people, heroes of the Soviet Union, artists, poets, writers, athletes. There are 28 firefighters killed during the fire at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. It was in honor of the feat of these fearless people, who first came to the defense of the disaster, at the Mitinskoye cemetery a memorial was erected to commemorate the citizens who died in the Chernobyl accident in April 1986.

Every year at the Mitinskoye cemetery the memory of all those who perished in the terrorist attack in the city of Beslan of the Republic of North Ossetia is honored. Thousands of candles are lit at 10 o'clock in the morning as a symbol of eternal memory and sorrow for the victims of the tragedy. Servicemen who died in military operations in Chechnya are buried on the territory of the Mitinsky cemetery. Also here are the graves of many artists, sports, literature and journalism. Victims of the tragedy in the "Transvaal Park" are also buried in the Mitinskoye cemetery.

Near to its territory in 1985 a crematorium was built, which has been working till now. There are about 25 cremations a day. Nearby there is also an open type columbarium, in which there is a burial of urns with ashes. At the Mitinskoye cemetery, an accounting system has been established. This is a special archive, which records information about all graves.

For the visitors of the cemetery, relatives and friends on the territory, there is a rental of various equipment for the care of graves. The schedule of his work corresponds to the schedule of the work of the Mitinsky cemetery. Also on the territory there is a sale of all necessary ritual products, including wreaths and artificial flowers. Relatives of the deceased can choose and order a monument, fence or pedestal for graves right on the Mitinskoe cemetery.
