Metallurgical plant "Elektrostal": history, production, address

OJSC "Metallurgical Plant" Elektrostal "is one of the largest specialized enterprises of the central region of Russia. The company with centuries-old history is a fusion of traditions and modern technologies. Here, various steel grades of 2000 kinds are melted, including special ones, they produce billets and products of high redistribution.

Base

Construction of a large steelmaking plant in the city of Elektrostal began shortly before the fall of the tsarist regime. The industrialist N. A. Vtorov undertook the realization of the idea of obtaining high-quality alloy steels by an electrometallurgical method. The first melting was carried out on 17.10.1917, but the troubled times slowed down the development of a unique production for Russia.

After the victory in the civil war, the Bolshevik government set out to restore the plant in full and subsequently increase its capacity. Already in 1923 the workers smelted the first batch of stainless steel. A year later, began to pour the magnetic steel. Since 1926, high-strength ball bearing steel has been produced. 1932 became the year of mastering the technologies of smelting the alloy of nichrome.

Development

In the 30s, the largest shops of the Metallurgical Plant Elektrostal were launched. Section SPTS-2, completed in 1930, still works. The production areas for rolling and forging alloy steels have been put into operation.

In the Great Domestic Metal, the MZE was used for the production of the Il-2 assault aircraft, T-34 tanks, and Katyusha rocket-launching systems. Part of the equipment was wisely taken to the Urals, it became the base for the creation of new enterprises. Shortly before the Victory, in March 1945, the collective was awarded the deserved award - the Order of Lenin.

1948 was strained. Technologists of the plant, with the assistance of scientists, were instructed to develop a technical process for melting refractory alloys, and engineers and workers to establish their industrial production. Despite the lack of technology, the task was solved. Another ambitious task - to establish the production of precision alloys - workers received in 1949. In 3,5 years the factory workers introduced tape rolling and sheet rolling production on their basis.

Subsequent years, the MLE was a leading supplier of complex steels and alloys for research and production facilities, research centers, design bureaus, defense enterprises, rocket and aircraft manufacturing, comic machinery, radio electronic equipment and other consumers. In 1971 the plant was awarded the Order of the October Revolution.

In complex perestroika years, the company was able to stay afloat. Moreover, the management found opportunities for a full-fledged modernization of the worn-out facilities. Thanks to the efforts of the team, the joint-stock company Elektrostal is one of the flagships of the domestic metallurgy.

Factory today

The metallurgical plant Elektrostal carries out the smelting of high-quality steels. This is not an easy task for workers in steelmaking shops. The oldest of them is the SPTS-2 workshop, it was put into operation in September 1930 and today it continues its work. The smelting is carried out in open type furnaces.

However, modern metallurgy relative to the 30-ies of the last century stepped far ahead. There are more promising and economical methods of melting metal. At MZE, this is the youngest steelmaking workshop No. 6, launched in 1971. It is used for the production of extra-class steel for the aviation, space, defense industries, rocketry.

Modernization

In 2015, the 60th anniversary was marked by one of the oldest sections of the Metallurgical Plant "Elektrostal" - shop KPTS-1. He is the first in the chain of production. Here, the modernization of the press No. 2 was completed, at which ring blanks are produced for further redistribution.

The youngest section at the metallurgical plant "Elektrostal" is the shop KPTs-3. It was created as a result of the modernization of equipment for the production of long products. It is used to make blanks of various parts. KPC-3 is associated with the future of the enterprise, because here they receive products of deep redistribution, which have a higher added value. Based on the experience of its operation, it is planned to modernize other production sites.

The situation is under control

An important mission is performed by structures that provide monitoring for enterprises that control quality and counteract corruption. For example, the Department of Economic Security. He works in two directions:

• Checks external organizations that show a desire to cooperate with a metallurgical plant Elektrostal.
• He is engaged in the control of internal units. This includes: accounting for consumables, checking the security of expensive material and technical values, ensuring irrevocable production.

OEB employees also assess the reliability of contractors involved in the installation of equipment and commissioning.

In the Technological Control Department, the quality of finished products is checked by innovative methods:

• Ultrasonography;
• Luminescent control.

In November 2017, the metallurgical plant "Electrostal" celebrates the centennial anniversary of the launch and smelting of the first ton of steel. Distinguished workers of the plant will be rewarded for their work with memorable awards.
